Where Can I Take My Husband to Get a Beer Where My Baby/toddler Is Welcome

My husband really wants to go out somewhere he can get a beer--I want a kid friendly place where my daughter can walk and explore new toys. Unless I give her O cereal or mostly thawed blueberries, she doesn't sit for long. She is very active.
My husband and I are laid back kinda po folks. We want a comfortable homey atmosphere that doesn't cost too much. He really wants to try a mcmennamins brew. Is there a mcmennamins establishment that might fit our style? Other suggestions would be a big help.

What can I do next?

I agree, the Barley Mill Pub on Hawthorne is a perfect place to have a beer with a baby in tow. They have great beers on on tap and I have never been the only one with a baby or small child in there. There is plenty to look at for baby as well.

The black Labrador on Hawthorne, and if you have a dog you can set on the patio. It is a great place to meet with a group.

Hey S.,

The Lauralwood off of Sandy Blvd, in the Hollywood Dist. is a great place to go w/ kids. Good food, too.

Hi S.~ Funny how I read the first part of your question & immediately thought to tell you to go to McMenamins. My husband & I received gift certeficates to there for Christmas this year & with $100 gift card we have already gone out to lunch/dinner about 4 times. We really enjoy the Highland Pub on 181st & Powell it is a McMenamins. It is a very nice setting, the people who work there are very friendly & kind (although I am not due until June) we plan on it being a place we will continue to go often. We've been there a few times when other couples have had their toddlers & babies there & everyone around them seemed just fine with it. They have a few booths that are a little more secluded at each end of the restraunt so you may even have a little wiggle room for your daughter. We enjoy going a bit earlier in the evening when there aren't as many people there & like I said lunch is a great time too. I've only been to the 181st & Powell, Edgefield & Clackamas locations but I highly reccomend if you live close to the Powell location to check it out. Here is a link to all of their locations. http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?type=pub
Hope you have a great time!

Peanut Butter and Ellies is a great place for kids and they have beer (always) and live music on most weekends. It is not a bar and very family oriented. I love the place. It has a large play area in the center of the room where you can watch you kids from any table. They also have games you can play at your table, a chalkboard wall and peanut butter playdough you can order off the menu. Hope this helps!

i'm pretty sure the mcmenamins Barley Mill is kid-friendly before 10 pm. most mcmenamins probably are, but this one is smoke-free (before 10pm) and has a really chill atmosphere. kids can't go on the pool table side of the restaurant, but its just one section. it has a nice jukebox too. (SE Hawthorne and 16th).

The Laurelwood also has a play area.

I would also recommend Old Wives Tales at NE 12 and Sandy. They have a playroom. No toys but a couple of "boats" and a zoo themed tunnel.

Another plus is that the restaurant is owned by a strong single woman. The emphasis in food is on the natural. The menu has a long list of choices. They also have a soup and salad bar. They serve beer and wine.

Peanut Butter & Ellies! It's the BEST! They have a play area for kids... a very healthy organic menu, and a beer & wine menu. It's in Multnomah Village. Here's their link:

P.S. It kind of caters to younger kids, so if you have, say a five year old, they may find it a little boring.
