Where Can I Donate Gently Used Baby/childrens Clothing

I am looking for a place to take all the beautiful baby clothes that I have. I would love to donate them and help someone out. Most of them look unworn. I just ask that the organization not be a religious one. I just dont think you should have to talk about god to get help for your family. Thanks Ladies!!!!

Hi--

I don't know if you want to donate to an organization or to a family. I'm a single mom with 2 kids and I have a little girl due July. I have absolutely nothing for babies because my youngest is 9. I threw everything away about 4 years ago. I would love anything you may have that you would want to give away. It would go to great use.
Thank you

Two ideas would be the Howard Brown Health Center's Brown Elephant stores (there are several in the city, funds support the Center's HIV/AIDS and other healthcare related projects) or the Children's Memorial Hospital store near the hospital at the intersection of Lincoln, Fullerton and Halsted.

The Brown Elephant in Wicker Park doesn;t take kids stuff, I tried that! If the stuff is nice try taking it to Shorty's on Milwaukee. There are also two nice consignment shops on the North Shore, Bearly Used in Wilmette and Hand Me Downs in Evanston. Those are all consignment shops, but they are the only ones I know that are not religiously affiliated. Good Luck.

Hi S., If you haven't already chosen one of the places already suggested, I highly recommend the Economy Shop in Oak Park (www.economyshop.org) for both donating and shopping. Donations go to help several local organizations. Good luck to you.

All my used everything goes to the Brown Elephant. There's even a new one in your neighborhood.

The House of the Good Shepherd is located at 1114 W. Grace Street in Chicago. Their phone number is ###-###-####. This is a shelter for Battered Women and Children who are homeless. It is a wonderful organization and they are always very welcoming of mom and child related donations as well as basics (personal hygiene, day planners, etc).

Try donating it to the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago. 3600 W. Fullerton. It is not a religious organizating. You can check out their website at
http://infantwelfare.homestead.com/

You can write off the donation as well.

Another place is the Infant Welfare Society Resale Shop. The clinic is for underserved children and the moms shop there for their kids. They will also give you a receipt for tax purposes. They are at 3600 W Fullerton (at Central Park)
