When to Test for Preg.?
My hubby and I have been ttc for 3 yrs. I started clomid, we've had sex every other day since cycle day 9. It's cd 24. I had a positive opk test on cd 20. How soon can I test for pregnancy? Or when to expect my period?? I do have tender breasts and headaches which I can also get with my period. I was just wondering since my ovulation day (or guessed ovulation day) was later than the "normal" 14th day. Thanks ladies!

If I were you I would wait until at least CD 31, which would be about 10-11 DPO. You may still get a false negative at that point, but if you are just dying to POAS (Pee on a stick) you could start at that point. When I got pregnant with my daughter I got a postive OPK on CD 19 and 20. I was also temping each morning, so I know that I actually O'd on CD 20. I waited to test until CD 33, just because I had been through the testing process for several months and couldn't stand to see another negative, so I waited until I was almost positive I was pregnant without even testing. I usually only had a 10-11 day LP, so when I made it to CD 33, a 13-day LP, with temps that were still up, I just knew...and the test showed positive almost immediately!
Good luck!! If you have any questions you can send me a message!

You'll absoulutely have to call your doctor for them to schedule a day to go in to test. This should have been discussed with you already. Every case is different so call and have them tell you when to come in. They should want a blood test to confirm rather than a urine test since it's more accurate, especially early on.

As soon as you miss your period. The earlier you test the lower the levels of hormone that show it posative. So you could test really early and have it show up negative, then wait a few days and have it be posative. Im pregnant with our fourth and concieved on day 25 of my cycle. Im very intune with my body and my cycle and didnt even know that was possible. Crazy how life goes sometimes! Good luck!

Hi there,
I'd wait a week or so before testing... can't hurt. plus those darn tests are so expensive.
I do have a recommendation for you.. my hubby and I had tried for about 1 year (before we realized I had thyroid issues). During this time however, I found http://www.ovulation-calendar.com/register.html. It was wonderful! There is a 90 day free trial which really helped up know what the heck was going on. And made counting/keeping track of days SOOOO much easier. I ended up buying the full version b/c the pill and I don't work very well together, and we wanted to try a more natural method of bc after my son was born.
Hope this helps!

You should be able to get a positive test at about 12 DPO (days past ovulation). Make sure you test with FMU (first morning urine). Some people don't O til 1-2 days past the + OPK so keep that in mind. Is your LP (days from O to your period) usually 14 days? Mine is about 12 so that would be when you would expect your period.

Hi, hope I can help. I went thru invetro three times and iui 3 times. No pregnancies but two beautiful adopted children. Anyway, I feel like somewhat of an expert on ovulation and cycles (being that we spent over 60g, to learn all this). You should start pg test the day after your scheduled period cycle. Or count the days after you ovulated, on the 14th day you can start testing. God knows it is difficult not to start sooner, although, it can be a waste of energy and cost of pg tests. GOD BLESS YOU, and GOOD LUCK! T.

I don't have an exact answer to your question, however, I can tell you to use those "digital" ones which have the read out that say pregnant or not. They advertise to be the "earliest" result. They really do have the capability to tell you a few days earlier. I had both types when I was pregnant with my son, and the digital one told me about 3 days before the old kind showed a positive result. Wow how exciting for you. I wish you the best of luck,

Are you taking your basal body temp? If you are then I think its ten days after your ovulation day if the temp doesn't drop you're preggers. The temps were really clear for us to tell when ovulation happened and were completely accurate both times they said I was pg!
