Hi everyone. The day before my period was due (I have a very reliable 30 day cycle) I felt my period coming and had unprotected sex with my husband. Today is now day 33 of my cycle and I still havnt gotten my period. I no longer feel my period coming and dont know whats going on. The day before my pd was due was the only day in the last 5 weeks that I had unprotected sex. When is the soonest I can take a pregnancy test?

What can I do next?

If you were to have gotten pregnant when you had unprotected sex then you should be able to get a positive test result at 2 weeks from that date. Any sooner and I would say that you are setting yourself up for the wait from hell. I hope all works out and you get the answer you are hoping for after the hpt

The First / Early Response ones say you can take it up to five days BEFORE the first day of your missed period. Lucky you for having such a predictable cycle! That makes it much easier.

Good luck!

Take one now. You've missed your period so if you're pregnant you should have enough hormone built up to show in a home test. And yes, even though it's typical to ovulate mid-cycle, you can still get pregnant right before you get your period or even during your period. You can get pregnant any time during your cycle.

So take the test. I'm curious why you haven't taken one already.

If you conceived on day 29 of your cycle, a pregnancy test will not be accurate until 10-14 days later. It is possible you're cycle is long because of stress, hormonal changes, or a number of other reasons that caused you to ovulate later. But whether your ovulation was timed perfectly with the unprotected sex is just something you'll have to wait a little while longer to find out.

If you had unprotected sex 5 weeks ago, a pregnancy from that time would be detected by a pregnancy test.

I think I would take a test now to rule out having gotten pregnant 5 weeks ago, and if it is negative, wait 2 more weeks and take another.

You can take a pregnancy test (with accurate results) the day after a missed period.

Just FYI... most women ovulate mid-cycle. So if you have a 30 day cycle you are fertile days 13-17 (starting from the first day of your last period). Just keep in mind too that there's only one method that's 100% effective, so you may be pregnant despite using birth control!
