When Do You Shower and Get Ready? Sahm's

Im just curious. Do you wake up before the kids get up and shower and get yourself ready for the day? I am not liking our schedule. I usually have to wait until my 2 year old takes a nap around 1pm, then I take the baby in the bathroom with me and take a shower. Im not loving not being able to shower until mid-day. How many of you are motivated enough to wake up at 6am (thats usually what time I wake up with the baby) and get yourself ready? And I dont know, is it just me that feels like poo until you shower? I feel like I would be more motivated during the day if I at least had a shower! Maybe some makeup ;)

Usually, when my husband takes his for work. I don't like having to wait and I feel better/more motivated and relaxed if I have already had my shower.

I agree with the night showerers-- it's SO nice to go to bed all fresh and clean. I sleep really well when I shower at night. (I switch-- usually at night, but sometimes in the AM if I run out of time at night)

I am always awake before anyone else in the family.
I get a lot done that way.

Before my Husband goes to work, I have:
washed the dishes, showered myself, did the laundry, folded the clothes, defrosted chicken for dinner later, made my kids breakfast, ate myself and took my vitamins, made coffee, read some of the paper, go online to check my e-mail and other accounts, refilled the toilet paper in the bathroom and the soap, made my 'list' of what I have to do today and get.

But, I am a SAHM.
I highly respect, all you working Moms.

My lack of motivation to get up early is proof that I'm sitting here at 12:37 in my pj's. I usually do laundry/clean bathrooms on Fridays mornings as soon as my feet hit the floor, so I don't bother showering before I'm done. Kids are eating lunch now, and as soon as they're done, I'll take a quick one. If I have to go somewhere in the mornings, I'll get up before they do or before my husband leaves for work. Other than that, it's the night before. I always make sure to look put together by the time my husband is home. Don't want him thinking I lounged all day with a tray of bon bons. :) Wish I had more motivation to do it early, but some days, it's just not gonna happen. :)

i feel yuck if i don't take a shower in the morning. my kids are 6. around the time they turned 4 i allowed myself to take a shower around 9 am. before they were 4 i don't remember. i think that period scarred me for life so i pushed everything away from my memory :)
today, i had my coffee, made breakfast for them, worked on the computer (no, really worked, not mamapedia) then around 9 i took my shower. then i cleaned 2 bathrooms, i cleaned the play room top to bottom, then i said what the heck, started washing the bedding for 3 beds, while that was being washed, i prepared lunch. worked some more on the computer. then did kitchen floors, counters, cleaned all doors. then around 3 i couldn't remember if i had taken a shower because i was smelling like cleaning products. oh what the heck. made dinner. now it's almost 5. kids are watching a movie, i am thinking i should close my eyes for like 30 min. in fact bye y'all, that's exactly what i am doing

Even before kids, I've showered at night before bed (a product of growing up in a family of 6 with one bathroom--we had scheduled bathroom time!). It works out great...put the kids to bed then shower at my leisure, plus all the yucky from the day (sweat, tears, snot, food...) is washed down the drain before I hit the pillow.

Wow! I'm a working mom, and I shower in the evening, usually after dinner so that my hair has time to dry before bed without a blow dryer. I could never get up that early for a shower, I have a hard enough time getting up early for work! S.H. is supermom!

It seems like the more kids I have, the harder time I have figuring out when to shower! When the baby naps, the other three are out, and I don't feel comfortable leaving them to themselves. And, I'm definitely not going to get up earlier than them to shower! I NEED my sleep.

I've finally found a time that works for me. I find it easier to shower right before bed. It relaxes me. I go to bed with wet hair. I have non-cooperative hair, though. I always have to blow dry it or else it'll end up frizzy, wavy, straight, and curly - all in different spots. But I don't want to blow dry my hair right before bed, so I go to bed with it wet. I've recently learned the art of hot rollers. Now I do my hair/makeup during the baby's first nap (kids can come in and i can watch/hear them). I use the hot rollers and it'll make my hair nice and full (it's a little past my bra strap - actually my profile pic shows my hair!). I can still wear it straight (brush out the curls), or I can keep the curls. The hot rollers de-frizz it and make it look nice. So it doesn't matter what my hair looks like right before I do it! It's a fast way to do my hair, and i like the results. I definitely feel better when I get ready for the day!

Pshaw.

When kiddo dropped his morning nap, he started getting morning car seat time. As in I strapped him in the carseat, took it to the bathroom, and took a shower. (Of course I gave him something to 'do'). When he was self feeding, I took the highchair into the bathroom, tucked him in, gave him his breakfast, and took a shower while he ate. "Gravity" experiments are super easy to clean up, btw, from a non-carpeted bathroom floor.

As a toddler, durn straight I used the TV and ducked into the shower or just brought him into the bathroom with me and shut the doors and let him play.

As an older kid he entertains himself (we homeschool).

My son was my alarm clock for YEARS. Up BEFORE him? (snicker). Um. No. I think not.

Similar to Susan, however, it takes me about 20 minutes to do all my chores in the morning (Clear the counters, sweep and mop the floors, start the laundry), and then I pop into the shower.

I don't get showered and "ready" till 3 or 4 pm. I work from home and start at 5 or 6 am till 10 am, then I clean up the house for maybe an hour, so I stay in my jammies for that. I also have to fit in my workout before showering. So with that and lunch etc it is not till afternoon that I am able to sneak in a quick shower.
That being said, if I did not have to work in the morning, I would get my workout in by 9 am and then shower and get ready. It sure would be nice to be dressed and ready for the day!

I never shower in the morning, it's just impossible, so I shower at night before I go to bed. I don't like getting into bed with the days dirt on me anyway. My son gets up at 6 am on the dot everyday and there is no way that I am waking up earlier than that to get myself ready. After both kids are up and have eaten breakfast, then we all go upstairs and while they play, I go and put my make up on and get dressed, which takes about 15 minutes and I'm ready. I used to love to put on my makeup and would take my time with it, now I've learned to just use a L. and put it on quickly. Even if we're not going out for the day, I at least change out of my pjs and put some mascara and bronzer on. It makes me feel better. I've definitely let my beauty routines go since I became a mother, but I just don't have the time to worry about it.

SH my jaw just hit the floor, you are a better woman than I.

Now I shower before they are out of bed, but mine are all teens or almost so they sleep in, plus they don;t need me to get them food.

When they were little I got up with hubby and showered before he left, usually around 6. I gave up makeup after baby number 2 and I used to keep my hair permed so it was quick and easy.

If I have somewhere to be, I will shower the night before (after the kids are in bed) or in the AM (before they get up). On a daily basis, I usually shower during nap time as well. After I put them down, I get on the treadmill, then take my shower. It's not my favorite time, but it just works out that way if I don't want to take multiple showers a day.

I get up before everyone else... make the coffee, do a load of laundry, feed the kids breakfast, make my husbands lunch for work, stack the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, make myself a cup of coffee, then sit down at the computer by 8am to start working. My shower either happens during my sons morning nap (around 9am), but now that he's skipping that nap, it's usually before bedtime. I don't have many good hair days ;) The rest of my day is spent running errands, working, and cleaning!! As for makeup, I can't tell you the last time I wore any before my wedding last weekend, and I haven't worn any since ;)

Nope, I shower every morning, have since my kids were babies. Before they were walking I would put them in the exersaucer and take a shower. When they were walking I would lock my bedroom door and give them some toys and shower. When they were 2-3 I would just jump in the shower. Now they are 9, 5, and 4 and I just shower in the morning while they are finishing up breakfast.

Don't wait until 1pm. Your 2yr old can watch a show for 1/2 hour and your baby can be in a baby seat while your shower.

I showered whether the kids were awake or not. Seemed to me even if they were asleep for a nap when I got in didn't mean they would stay asleep the whole time. At least just hopping in when they were awake I knew what mood they were in and had an idea if they were going to scout out trouble.

I did take some pretty quick showers back in the day but I agree I feel icky till I do.

Good for you. I'd rather feel like poo than wake up before my kids to get ready. I often bathe during afternoon naps or even wait until my husband has the kids in the evening. If I have to be presentable I take them to my bathroom to hang out while i bathe quickly before their breakfast, or slightly less quick after breakfast. I'd rather have a few more winks than to be bathed first thing. But then again, I have often been an evening bather even when I didn't have kids, so it may just be that I don't have the same association with bathing to wake up.
And don't feel like you have to live up to SH. I took a peek, her's are 4 and 8. You have three and one's a baby and one's two! I don't know about you but I'd have to be up by 4:30 and no latter than 5:00 a.m. to accomlish half her list before the first morning feeding.

during the school year (I have 1 in school and 1 at home with me), I get up before they do to get myself ready. Now that it's summer, I get up when the kids wake me up (around 8am) and then I take a shower around 10am. I just put the tv on or they play together. They are 6 and 3. They know if they need anything, they are allowed to come in. I have always done this even when they were babies. I remember when my daughter was around 1 year old, I would bring her high chair into the bathroom and she would sit and eat yogurt or something for breakfast and I would take a shower so I could still see her.

I am not a SAHM but I am in the summertime (teacher). What works best for me is to get up at 4:30, start some laundry and dishes....stick my hair up, put my contacts in and hit the gym. I am home by 5:45--6:00 depending on how hard I want to work out :) Then I shower, wake my hubby up (he is such a child!) and get ready in our bedroom while he showers. Daughter usually wakes up around 7:00. There are days I don't feel like getting up, and that's not a good thing. Take today for example; alarm went off at 4:30, but I didn't go to bed until 1:30 last night (working on college assignments). So needless to say, I didn't get out of bed until DD (she slept in until 8:00). I am grumpy (not due to lack of sleep, due to not working out), have a horrible headache, have not showered yet (and probably won't be able to because she has decided to not take naps anymore) and will probably not be able to hit the gym.
During the school year, I plan to do things differently than I have in the past. Plan to kind of stick with my summer schedule....up at 4:30, at the gym at 5:00 (when it opens), in the shower at 6:00, ready to go (daughter and me) around 7:15.....hoping to be at the school by 7:45 which is way later than I went last year, but if I don't hit the gym in the morning, I don't go. We don't have to be there until 8:50 but I like to arrive early. Last year I was there at 7:30 every morning. Hoping to tweak the above schedule so I can continue that, but we will see what happens :)
Even if I shower at night, I still have to shower again in the morning or I feel disgusting.

I rarely take a shower first thing in the morning, but I do sometimes shower when both kids are awake in the mornings after breakfast. I have a bathroom in my bedroom, so my 3 year old sits on my bed and watches a show and my 8 month old sits in her exersaucer right outside the door and I can see the both of them. A lot of times I will just wait until my husband gets home from work just because it's easier and I get to actually enjoy my shower and get some alone time. I do feel so much better when I take them in the mornings though and it actually makes me want to go out and get more things done.

Depending on their age I either waited until naptime our took them in with me or didn't get to shower until my husband came home from work. Loved the days when he worked just down the road and came home for lunch, I could hand off the fussy one and take a shower then.
As they got older I could let them play while I took one by myself.
Thankfully my hushand works from home now with 3 kids so I can get one at a civil hour. He can keep an eye on the youngest while I hop in between phone calls and work from the couch.
I can't wake up if I don't get a shower! I hate taking them at night. I don't feel freshly shaved and my hair is unruly.
