When Did You Go into Labor with Your First Born?
I will be 40 Weeks tomorrow and no sign of labor just yet. I haven't even started to dilate! I have a feeling I might go two weeks over! All my friends that were pregnant before me had their babies earlier, I feel like the minority. When did you go into labor?

On my due date my Midwife stripped my membranes because my husband was on leave from deployment and I wanted him to have time to spend with his son, and I and then 4 days later I went into labor. It was after midnight, and by 8 am my son was born. It was a super quick labor, and delivery. I easily could have gone a week over though. Just hang in there, and you will be in labor in no time!

I never went into labor on my own. I was induced two days after my due date. Even then it took a long time for me to fully dilated. I guess my baby just didn't want to come out.

I went into my prenatal appointment on my edd at 40 weeks exactly, disappointed as heck not to be in labor already, went and ate double breakfasts at our favorite "single people" restaurant, and to my surprise went into labor later that day. But the baby didn't come out until two days later!
Try not to think about it in a stressful way. The fetus actually releases a hormone that cues the uterus to begin contractions. So it's entirely up to the little boo inside you :) I know you probably feel huge and uncomfortable but it will all be over so soon and you will be on to the next phase so remember to stay in the moment! You will do great!!!

I was 38 weeks and when I went into the hospital my contractions were 2-5 minutes apart. when the dr checked me I was already 4 1/2 cm dilated and 100% effaced. I got my epidural about an hour after I got there hahahaha. It was awesome until 18 hours later when it wore off. Now I am about 7 weeks out from my due date with baby number 2. Good luck don't worry your little one will let you know when they want out.

Mommy knows when she will go into labor. I knew when i was goong to with both of my kids and i was right both times. Same thing with most all of my mommy friends. I know these last few weeks are hard mama but hang in there....before u know it your healthy baby will be in your arms and no longer in the protection of your womb. This is as close as you'll ever be....so enjoy this every second cause i wish i could have it back. Much love,
S.

I was induced with my first child, and I'm pretty sure that my due date was off by two weeks. And then she was induced a week earlier than that, so I believe she was three weeks early (even the doctor saw her come out and said "Oh, I guess she was earlier than I thought she was"). She was only 6 pounds, she had problems breastfeeding, and we were really worried about her weight because she was so tiny. What happened was that my first ultrasound measured at a due date of February 7. But my doctor, for some reason, insisted on going by the due date according to my last period, which was January 21. Then she wanted to induce a week early (she said she was afraid I wouldn't make it to the hospital in time, but I now believe she just wanted to schedule it to make it convenient for her, because there was no medical reason for it) and unfortunately I agreed. I regret it now, but she's a healthy 8 year old, so she's fine.
Anyway, my point is, hang in there! Take lots of walks, walk up and down stairs, get lots of rest (as much as you can). My mom was about two weeks past her due date with me and I finally came, so don't worry. Your baby will come when he/she is ready. Congratulations!!

I was about 2 weeks early. But I was really sick and up coughing all night, every night. Apparently I coughed so hard/much that my water broke. Then, of course, labor begins!

3 weeks early - but I do not think my due date estimate was even remotely close. She came out 7lbs 11 ounces... does that seem like a pre-mature weight to you? It sure doesn't to me!!
Don't stress if you haven't met your due date... they are man made estimates and every women's pregnancy - including each different pregnancy will be different lengths of time. When the fetus is done developing, it sends a stimulus to the woman's body thru pheromones, chemicals and hormones - which will start the cascade of changes that eventually becomes labor.
Tho some women definitely have problems with getting labor to start and even fewer have complications that require surgical prevention (this is natural birth, not medical intervention births - like pitocin, epidurals, laying on the back and constant fetal monitoring, etc) - - they are the very small minority.
Some births can be 36 weeks and fully formed, some take 42 weeks. Don't be in a hurry to press your baby to come out into the world before they are ready. Nature is a miraculous thing... as are womens' bodies!

I was just like you. forty weeks and no sign of labor. I ended up having to be induced after a week overdue. And had to have a c section due to the position she was in, but everything turned out ok and i now have a healthy baby girl. I know you are miserable, but it will come soon.
