When Did You Get Rid of the Changing Table?

Never had one...thought they were too dangerous and a waste of money lol! I always used a pad and just laid my kids on the floor or on the couch. My son was pretty much a laid back baby but my daughter is a wiggle worm and likes to try to roll over and get up in the middle of me changing her! Good luck!!!

Never had one. The floor, sofa, kitchen table or bed were too handy. And before you all go ewwwwww I always had a clean towel around.

Never had one... I always thought they could be kind of dangerous. I used a pad and just put it on the floor or couch:)

I never had one. I figured my son couldn't fall off the floor! He couldn't get hurt rolling or jumping off the changing blanket I would put down on the floor. I say get rid of it now. IF you decide to keep it, PLEASE keep your hand on her the entire time she is on there! THAT is precicely why you should have EVERYTHING you need on the table before changing her - diapers, wipes, but cream, more wipes, an extra diaper 'just in case' (my son once peed as soon as I got the new diaper under him :) so have two!)...and anything else that you might need handy.

I had a changing table but know I used the floor way more than I ever used IT. Mine was more of a staging area for baby laundry :)
If your's has lept from the table, I'd say it's time to floor it from now on.

Never had one it served no purpose to me waste of money & just having wiggly baby on there was dangerous

i hardly ever used one. but sorry if this sounds mean but at 8 months he shouldnt of been left there alone because of him probably being semi mobile and wiggeling

I used the changing table until they were out of diapers. I'm still using it with my 19 month old now.

As long as he fit on it... but I don't remember how old he was...

Word to the wise, they don't fall off if you keep one hand on them at all times. They can't. (Even an adult can barely move if you lay one arm across their chest... it's the first part that moves in rocking, rolling, sitting... thrashing happens and then more pressure and they're stuck again). Of course, as parents "oops" happen. They just do. It's a good thing we're bendy, because EVERY baby has taken a tumble from something at one time or another. Especially when we're tired/ sick/ or just grown to used to X that we forget about Y. My friends with a newborn were laughing at me for keeping one hand on her chest any time I didn't have both hands on her (they'll set her on the table and then duck down to get diapers and things, or step a few feet away to holler out the door). I laughed and said to talk to me in 6 months. The "stay" hand just becomes automatic, as does setting them in the crib if you realize you've forgotten something. But it becomes automatic FOR JUST the reason you mentioned... icewater through the veins tumble (had those) or near tumble (had those as well!).

I have never managed to get rid of mine, no matter how hard I've tried! It is in my closet holding up luggage and clothes. However, I also never really used it for changing (I hate changing tables--someone gave me one). The floor is much easier for me. The only reason for a changing table (in my opinion) is if someone physically finds it MUCH easier to change a child at a higher level. It sounds like your daughter is a bit too active for the table right now, so you are probably safer just going to the floor, or using a pad on the floor if you prefer that.

I just moved my son's changing table into his closet. We were only using it after bath time to get him dressed for bed and he had actually outgrown it. He is 2.

My son is just now 11 months and we stopped using it at about 4 months or so. He was a squirmer and he would also push off the bottom with his feet and end up whacking his head at the top of it. We still have it in his room. We use the little baskets on the two bottom shelves for his toys and blankets (both of which he can easily reach now). And the top (that he used to lay on) holds his carseat. I've found its an easy way to get him strapped in to his carseat because its more height level for me and hubby. But the moment he's strapped in, the carseat comes down so he doesn't rock himself into a fall.

As for where we change him...I keep a receiving blanket near his crib and just change him in there. Sometimes the floor (with a blanket underneath).

As soon as I was afraid she would roll off, I stopped using it. I don't remember how old she was. I just did it on the floor, and then eventually while she was standing up.

I kept ours until she was potty training almost, because of my back and knees I cant be changing her on the floor and I hate the idea of changing her on the bed or couch, seems unhygienic to me. Ours had a belt you could use to buckle them in if they were being difficult, my daughter hated the belt more than being changed so she'd hold still for me.

My daughter is 15 months old and I still use it. It is a little hard sometimes though, since she wants to jump out most of the times, but I still find it easier than using the bed to change her.

She hasn't used it since she was 6 months but I didn't use it very often before that for some reason I used it like once a month... it was easier on the changing pad on the floor... I still use it.. I put her shoes on the changing table part and blankets and such on the shelves.

Once they rolled over... it's just to far of a fall and too dangerous. Our 9 mo is too strong when he wiggles and rolls, its hard to change him. Same thing happened with our now 2 yo. So we just did everything on the floor. If she's too active, got to move down to the floor... too much to risk.

At one years old. Why? She started to walk and didn't want to lay down on the changing table any more. So we change here on the ottoman, bed, sofa, and floor.

I still have my changing PAD but I started changing her on the floor on the pad...I changed her on the floor until she was about 18 months. On the changing table, (mine is attached to her dresser) I filled it with pictures of grandma and Grandpa. But that is going away this spring when we break out the big girl bed (she is 2) If you have the normal white kind that has the shelves for diapers creams etc, I would get rid of it in a garage sale this spring or Craigslist . (unless you plan to have more kids)

I kept that thing for a while! I wish I could remember how old my daughter was...she was acutally pretty big. I hated leaning over all the time to change her! I just made sure to watch her every moment she was up there...not saying you weren't!!! But that was the only way I kept it for so long. Otherwise she would have probably tried to jump off as well!
