When Can We Start Gymnastics Classes?

I'm looking for recommendations for when and where to start gymnastics classes for a girl who looooves to flip and hang. She's only 19 months now, and you should see her swing from the rings on the playground! I'm wondering how soon we can take her to a class where she can somersault and swing to her heart's content in a safe environment.

We're not looking for serious training, just a class that she can have fun with. She already does Gymboree play classes, but the climbing there is no longer any challenge.

What can I do next?

We started our daughter at 17 months (they normally don't let them start until 18mths). We go to Olympiad in Festus, but they have multiple locations. My younger cousin used to go there and is now a teacher there on her summers home from college. They are a great group, and if she sticks with it, they do competitions and such for the older kids. There is also a Little Gym in South County, and I know they have programs for kids as young a crawling age.

Good luck and enjoy!!!

You might want to try Little Gym programs. Or check the phone book for local gymnastics places - I think there is one in Affton named Concordia...but I'm not sure.

I also have an energetic daughter about the same age. We live in Affton.

I have heard Little Gym has actual gymnastics classes for young kids. I would check them out. Several of my friends have taken their children and they loved it!

Have you tried Little Gym? We take my two year old to the one in St Peters and she has a blast. She lvoes to swing on the bars!
