Whats Wrong with My 22 Months Old Face?
Dropped her off at daycare and she was perfect...I came to pick her up today and you could tell she was crying for awhile (trying to catch her breath, studdering words)> I asked how long she had been crying and they said"about 15 mins...she has been crying for you".
OK that was fine..but then I noticed these red spots on her face. My first instinct is 'hives' but they are not raised up on the skin and its not blotches. they look like tiny blood blisters on her face without the blister part. or red freckles. They are even on her eyelids. She has not been crying for over an hour now and they are still there, Her demeanor is fine, no pain, playful. I googled hives and it doesnt look like that. They are ONLY on her face...no where else. Any suggestions? The menu at daycare for lunch was nothing out of the norm. (ham and cheese sandwich, green beans and bananas) so it cant be allergies
I am going to talk to the daycare tomorrow about the afternoon caretakers because I feel my kid and possibly others are not being cared for as well as they were in the previous room..this is not the first time I have come to pick my kid up and she is crying..but this is the first time with the red face break out. THanks
So What Happened?™
THANKS to everyone for your sincere words. you were right (AS ALWAYS). The daycare owner came in and waited for me to talk to me personally today. Told me the reasoning of why it happend and what they are doing so it does not happen again. I found out today that she was upset and did end up vomitting because she was so worked up. The spots are still there and I dont think they will go away for a few more days. Thanks again. It was a rough day wondering how my child was doing after her main caretaker left at 3, but I will say that daddy is making a surprise visit tomorrow. :)

If she had really been screaming/crying for a lot longer than that it could be broken blood vessels/capillaries in the face. If that's what it is, I would definitely talk to her daycare....there is no need for her to have to cry that long or hard!

If they continue to spread down her neck onto her torso... take her into the doc. Measles usually start on the face and spread downward. Chicken pox usually starts on the torso and spread outward.

i get that whenever i vomit. for a child to suddenly get them from crying tells me that she was crying very hard for a very long time. which really alarms me. you have to go with your motherly instincts on this one. something doesn't sound right to me. does she always cry for you before you arrive?

You need to plan a surprise visit for at least an hour before your usual pickup. When they are not expecting you. You will get a better idea of what is really going on. Try to do it tomorrow if you can.

sounds to me like she was crying hard for a long time! My face gets those whenever I throw up - it's like little broken blood vessells or something, they go away after a few days - look kind of like red freckels? I would definately say something to her care takers, that is ridiculous - no one could pick her up and console her? That is what they are getting paid to do. sorry, but that just really pisses me off, I think I would start looking for someone else to watch my kid......

I think it's from the crying....When you get sick (throw up) that happens to your face....And they don't go away....Just all the blood pressure...Maybe she had her head down or her head below her body while crying... Poor thing!

Take her to the Doctor... asap... since she STILL has those symptoms... OR some photos of her.... to show the Doctor and close up photo shots too.
Then, do a SURPRISE visit... to her Daycare....
Document things just in case... and because your Mommy "radar" and gut instinct is beeping...
This is unusual...
I think, she was probably crying for longer than that... maybe then they just gave you a canned response.
all the best,
Susan
