What Top Loaded Washer (And Dryer) Would You Recommend?

We're ready to replace the super old washer and dryer we have now and aren't sure what to get. We want a top loader, not front loader, as we're constantly adding "one more" piece of clothes after the cycle has started. So if you have recently bought or shopped for a top loader - what did you get and did you like it? Also interested to hear of any that you bought that you wished you hadnt...
Thanks!

What can I do next?

LOVE my Kenmore he low water top loader! Oh my gosh. Gets it done with more than half the water, less than a tablespoon of soap per load, I pack that puppy with a huge load and it spins them all almost dry. Saves time money, soap and dryer time. I've had it more than a year now and have no complaints. Gets my vote.

Um, I know you asked about top loaders but the idea that you cannot add to a front loader is an urban myth started by the baby crawled in and the toddler started it leaving the mom to watch her baby die. :( You press pause, the water drains out and you open it. Yes it uses that little of water. :)

I have Samsungs and love them. Yes, I am an adder as well. I swear I hit start, turn around and there is a sock laughing at me. Go in the other room and its mate is giving me the finger. Clothes hate me. :p

There is a samsung top loader that I do believe is an HE that I have seen at Lowes and I want it sooo bad! It doesn't have an aggitator, but I do believe the barrel spins. It looks sooo cool!!!

I believe there is a top loader that is very much like the front loader-meaning it uses less water, doesnt have the agitator that wears out clothing, and uses less detergent, as well as spins more so your clothes reqire less drying (which saves you money)

I have a Staber, which is a top-loading, horizontal axis washer. It's also intended to be maintained by the owner, which is a big plus for us. We have a large household and we killed our last washer in two years. The Staber is holding up great so far.

Not sure what your budget is, but twice when we've moved, we've found good washer / dryer sets on Craigslist. Not fancy, but last time we got both for $100 and they are great. Good luck!

WHIRLPOOL WTW4800XQ for a washer. I talked mine down to under $400. LOVE IT! I have washed a Queen sized quilt in it and it did the job!!!

AMANA NGD4800VQ is CLOSE to what I have.

I got both for well under $1000 WITH a 5yr warranty. I got mine at ABC Warehouse. Not sure if you have them there in MA, but anywhere the sales people make money from commission, you can negotiate a price. : )

I got my dishwasher for $150! BRAND NEW. Because it was the only one left in the store and it was missing a 'basket' which the sales person took from another floor model anyhow. : )

That's what we got a few weeks ago and I love it :)
