Hi Moms,
Some of you may have seen my earlier question about going to Disneyworld. My husbands parents are taking them in December, because we will be home, getting ready for the arrival of our twins, who will be due any day. I need to help my kids pack, and I am wondering if anybody knows what would be good to wear in Orlando, Floridia in Late November/Early December.

Thank you!!!

Mostly shorts and tee shirts. It does get chilly in the evening and at night, so a sweatshirt or a light weight jacket is a good idea. Depending on how long they will be staying you may want a pair or two of long pants.

Socks and sneakers for walking around the parks. Sandles for other times.

Don't forget the bathing suits and some suntan lotion.

Also, I recommend a rain poncho for the parks. It's not uncommon to have an afternoon shower.

I live about 3 hours north and used to live slightly less than 2 hours north of there (in Jacksonville). We had A winter (in 1989, I can remember b/c it is so rare) that we had snow 3 days before Xmas. That was a VERY rare thing.

Normally? We are in shorts and Tshirts at both Thanksgiving AND Christmas. The evenings after dusk and early in the morning (before 10 a.m.) you might want long pants and a light jacket (nothing heavy weight--no snow gear type stuff) as a general rule. I would check the weather forecasts for the week you plan to be down there just a couple of days before you go, so you have a more accurate expectation. 2 winters ago was the coldest we have had in A WHILE. And it was COLD (by our standards--- dropped below freezing something like 15 days in a row... I think the lowest was around 12 degrees?--but this is 3 hours north, too). Daytime highs, during that coldest time were in the high 40's or low 50s. That was a very unusual winter, though.
It COULD be like that again, but it isn't shaping up that way so far.
Today, where I am (just barely north of the Florida state line) the high was 72 degrees. It has been in the mid-high 80s for the past few days before this though. I'm not expecting a cold winter this year.

I live 20 minutes from Disney and I would suggest shorts and tees send a swim suit since most of the hotels have heated pools (to me the air is too chilly to swim but I am used to the weather here). I would also bring at least one pair of long pants and a light jacket. It is always warm but once in a while we do get some cold air, just not below 40 degrees and that is usually at night.
It is not real humid during that time of year so you will not be dripping in sweat, but it is very sunny so use sunscreen (hats, sunglasses). I wear shorts or capris in the winter, short sleeve shirts and a light jacket if needed (early AM and when the sun goes down is the chilliest). My daughter (6yo) wears shorts and tees all year and will only wear long pants if it is less than 60 degrees out.

It doesn’t rain much this time of year, so pick up a rain poncho at one of the drug stores here. They are very small and will fit easily into a pocket or back pack.

I live on the West Coast of Florida and it can still be rather warm. One day could be 80, the next it could be 65. Nights can get a little chilly, so a light jacket would work. Rarely do we wear heavy jackets. My kids wore shorts today to school. I would say bring light weight pants, long-sleeve shirts, maybe a two or three pairs of shorts and t-shirts. Sandals and a pair of sneakers and you're good.

Well last year I lived in Orlando and it was still tshirt and shorts weather! Heck we even went to the beach the day after Christmas. So if it were me I'd pack an assortment of chilly weather clothing and some warmer weather clothing.

You can download the weather channel to your computer. It gives you an extended forcast, 10 days, that should be enough time to plan what to pack.

I live in north Florida, like about as north as you can get and still be in Florida. I don't even own a heavy jacket.

I say light long sleeve shirts and a jacket and pull over and jeans. You might want to even think about a couple short sleeve shirts. I'm from MO and to me if the sun is out in Florida...it's hot. LOL

We went in mid December, and it was unseasonably cold. Even the locals said it was uncommon. We got away with shorts and a light jacket during the day, but night was uncomfortable it was so cold.
Needless to say we spent a small fortune on the appropriate clothing at Disney World.

On the Walt Disney World Website, at the bottom, is a link to Mom's Panel Advice. They have great advice on all sorts of questions, and one that is always asked is how to dress for a certain time of year. I suggest you check them out.

I always keep my eye on Accuweather to get a sense of what it will be like-they will predict it 3 weeks out. however I think you should be good with a couple pairs of shorts, t shirts, a long sleeve t shirt, a pair of long pants, sweatshirt, swimsuit, socks, sneakers. SEnd another layering coat if the weather seems iffy-like a fleece. Oh, and make SURE to go to the dollar store and get disposable rain ponchos.

Thanks for asking this question, my family is going to Disney World in December too! How wonderful that Grandma & Grandpa are taking your kiddos. Hopefully you will be able to get some rest, which I bet you NEVER get with 5! And congratulations on your twins :)

It's still pretty warm in FL in December, but they have had some wacky weather the past few years. I would say mostly they can get away with spring/summer clothing, but pack layers so that they can have short sleeves under a sweatshirt or something like that. I've found that if it's a little cooler, as long as they have long sleeves or long pants, the kids are usually fine.

Good luck, sounds awfully busy there! And what great grandparents...wow!
