What to Take to Des?

I have to go to an interview for gov assistance, but i cant find 2 of my 3 kids birth certificates. Do you think they would accept shot records or social security cards?

What can I do next?

I don't know how it is in Arizona, but I know my daughter had to make a new appointment because she couldn't find the key to the "safe" that the birth certificate was in. I think she finally had to go get a new copy.

You will probably either need to get new copies, or keep trying to find them.

It wouldn't hurt to call them and find out. Better than spend the time going in and not knowing for sure.
And you may want to consider ordering copies of the birth certificates. You'll need them to enroll kids in school and other such events.

I used to live in Yuma AZ and they were hard-nosed about birth certificates. I think you may have to reschedule until you get their birth certificates. Social Security Cards get stolen all the time and apparently they want them but not by themselves. Shot records, you should call and check because some places will take shot records if it's from birth. I'd call them and ask and if they won't then you can reschedule :)

I agree with Korie B. Go to the county's website they were born in or call and order a birth certificate. It's going to be about $25 each. How do I know? because I've ordered mine before hehehe. It sucks but you will need them at some point so get a safe place for them. lock box, a specific shoe box or something like that.

Are they for the purposes of establishing citizenship? If so, then, no, they want original birth certificates. They'r pretty clear about it.

In the sate of Arizona if your child was born here then they dont need the birth certificates. THey can pull up proof of birth and parents from the County websites. When I went in to get DES i didnt have mine and I was born here so they didnt need it. But they had to have my Husbands because he was born in New York.

After my son was born and I had to go back they never needed the birth certificate. It should be the same no matter where you live in Arizona. BUt you do need a copy of them to enroll in school. So it hurt to get new copies.

The purpose of birth certificates is to show that you are the parent. The other items you mention do not do that.

Tucson may have a Vital Statistics office and if so you can pick up copies on your way to the appointment. Otherwise you can order them on line.

Hi, they probably wouldn't accept the one you get from the hospital anyway.
Contact the County Health Dept your kids were born in and request a CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE. There's usually a small fee for each one but it's nothing compared to the waste of your time & gas going to the appt. with the wrong one or none at all then being told sorry come back again.
It shouldn't take more than 7-10 days to have it in hand.
Good Luck
