Hey ladies! So my husband and I are in need of some fun! Its been a very long almost 2 months now. About 1 1/2 months ago i found out i was pregnant and we were super excited. We have a 19 month old daughter but we were ready for her to have sibling. Anyways, about a week and a half later i went to the hospital because i thought i had a blood clot in my thigh. I was right and they put me on fragmin(give myself shots every day) which im still on. This is by the way, the second time because i had a really bad clot when i was 7 months pregnant with my daughter. So a few weeks later i went to my first appointment to have an ultrasound only to find out my baby wasnt growing and wasnt going to. That meant miscarriage. They gave me pills to finish the process but they didnt work. 5 days later i had surgery. So now that im done with that part, its just been a process of healing emotionally. Sorry for the long story, but i tell you bc my cousin offered to babysit all weekend and she knows all we have been through lately. She doesnt know what we should pay her either, so i need opinions. She is just watching my 1 1/2 year old who is well behaved. I will bring food (she wants to watch her at her house). She can take her out. My cousin is very responsible and i trust her completely. She is 21 and lives with her parents (full time student). I was thing $150-175?? We dont have a huge budget and she understands this, but i dont want to underpay her. Thank you for listening!!

What can I do next?

i think that sounds resaonable i pay my sitter $40 for a 9 hr sitting shift ususally and she has offered to sit over night if needed for 20 more a day. She is a young family friend tho. but 150-175 sounds good since its at her house and you are providing food .

I am so sorry for your loss. I know this must be difficult. Anyway I think what you're offering plus food and a place to stay sounds completely reasonable. When Christmas comes around then buy her a nice gift as well. How nice that she offered to help you out. Take her up on her offer and get some rest. Blessings and hugs

First off I would like to say I'm sorry for your loss. I would think that $175 would be a good amount to pay her. Honestly, the baby will be asleep about 24 hours in the time she has her. Granted, that is if your little one sleeps that long at night.

I am so sorry for your loss :(. And I think you right on the money for what to pay your cousin. I'm sure she will be happy with anything you give her since she is doing this for you guys to get away from it all. I think that's great of her and I really hope you guys can enjoy yourselves!

I am sorry for your loss....

I have paid $400 for a 2 night 3 day trip BUT that was the sitter coming to my house and also house/pet sitting.. getting daughter to and from school, etc.

I think for a weekend and a 21yr old that your price range (CASH) sounds reasonable. My daughter would do that.

It depends on your area, I am in the far north Dallas area and the going rate for a sitter is about $12+ per hour. My daughter sits every Sat night for a family with 1 well behaved 4 yr old from 6:30-about midnight and she gets $85 regularly. Needless to say, she foregoes her date night for this job!!

Not all pay that well but the 3 she sits for regularly do. Granted, she is CPR trained, she teaches the children Spanish, she does mani'pedis for the little girls and she is well loved.

Enjoy your weekend!

Big hugs and I am sorry.. Since it is family I think 150 and sounds like her parents will be helping too :). Then maybe a few weeks later send her a thank u for babysitting with a I pod cards or 15 dollar Starbucks card.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.

We pay our babysitter $12/hour, plus $80 total for overnight (I think she counts that as between roughly 11 and 7am -- roughly the hours she's asleep), plus any expenses she might incur (though we tell her our budget for activities before we go). That's for our 3 kids. I live in the Boston area, and sitters are relatively expensive here. She's a professional Nanny, and very very responsible. We started using her about 5ish years ago, and she's kept our rates the same -- her current rates are quite a bit more.

If your little one isn't sleeping through the night, then I would definitely pay more than if she is.
