She destroys toys in minutes! What can I give her? She doesn't much care for rawhide. I thought about maybe deflated basketballs? or small tires? LOL! Help!

What can I do next?

Real bones are NOT good for dogs to chew on. Bone fragments can become impacted in their intestines.
Try a big Kong.

We give our pits Nylabone toys labelled for strong chewers ("Durachew"). Their current favorite is shaped like a ring with lots of texture:

Be careful giving anything that can tear off in small pieces. They can choke on them, or get stuff tangled in their intestines (especially cloth things--- the stringy parts can get twisted/tangled inside and really be a medical emergency).

Have you tried the beef bones? Not rawhides, or chew sticks, but actual bones? They sell them, and sometimes small ones stuffed with cheese or peanut butter filling. Be careful if you go this route, though... stubbing a toe on one of those suckers HURTS.

Our two dogs are definitely chewers. We have tried everything but the raw hide gives them gas. EEEEEEWWWWWW

The only thing that lasted and kept them busy for a decent time was the Nylabone. I highly recommend that and it is now the only thing they have since like your dog soft toys only become stuffing for me to clean up.

Even the raw hide bones with the knots at both ends can get consumed within a few hours.

Our dog loves basketballs! Especially when they lose a little air and she can grab them. So that may not be a terrible idea. We pick them up for a quarter at garage sales all the time.

Have you tried a smoked cow bone? The big huge ones, you can get at the grocery store? We have to kick our dog out when she first gets them. Once she gets all the meat off (which really doesn't take too long), then we allow them inside. Not messy at that point, they last forever and our vet says it's the primary reason our dog has never needed dental work.

Try the Kong Dog Toys for large breeds. My medium sized dog is a chewer and a friend with a big dog recommended Kong. We got her one and she loves it. Chews on the rubber while trying to get the treat out and it keeps her occupied. It's apparently a special doggy-safe, doggy-tough rubber.

They have Kong toys at the pet store. They are really thick chew toys. Your dog will have to work really hard to destroy it!

Lol welcome to the working dog family!! We have a Gordon Setter and if she sat still for a minute she might enjoy life but she is always busy and always chewing!! We give her raw bones , there is much debate on them but honestly if your dog got lose and had to fend for itself the chances of him building a fire to cook are pretty slim so raw is better then cooked. Our vet told us just to go to a good butcher and ask for larger bones. We also have a friend who is a hunter and for christmas Chloe gets the deer bones including the antlers which she loves and they are not near as messy and last forever!!! Good luck!

I get real bones (buffalo ribs, etc.) from PetSmart for my dog, but she is a small Boston Terrier. They sell them in all sizes along with antlers and they have no odor. You might also try Kong toys, they seem to last a long time too.

I stay away from rawhide because if you have leather furniture or shoes the dog will start chewing them too.

Our dog has done the same thing. Any toy that is stitched he undoes the stitching, the stuffing is out immediately, even a thick ring he bit a chunk out of the rubber ring. We get him the toys without stuffing and so far they are lasting for some reason. I guess there isn't the desire to undo the stitches to get the stuffing out. He also likes the Kong toys if the right one as he's bit chunks out of some of them. He has a ball with little 'feet' on it and it's at all of the pet stores, not sure if it's Kong or not, and it is lasting very well and he loves it. It's almost impossible and even now I have to check the toys all the time to see if he's gotten a hunk out. This is a dog who bent a metal crate with his teeth and got out. By the way, he's a mild mannered standard Poodle. The tires may work, ours didn't like them.

Don't get nylabones - my dog was eating them. He can also chew up beef bones so skip those. They break into little sharp pieces and can cause some pretty bad injuries, I guess. Pretty much all I can give him is a Kong and an antler. He's worn the antler down but it hasn't fragmented into little sharp pieces. They used to carry antlers at the Meijer by my house but it looks like you can get them online.

Forgot to add that the antler has lasted just over a year. I will definitely be getting him another one! I also found some tennis balls in the pet section at Meijer - "Tuffies" - they are thicker and much harder to destroy than regular tennis balls. I wouldn't let him chew on them but they hold up well for throwing and keep-away.

We find that Kongs work well for our hyper-chewing Lab. If the holes in the toy are big enough, we put peanut butter or small treats inside. We're trying out a Jolly Ball for Christmas - time will tell. A deflated basketball might work quite well, because she'll be able to carry it around as well as chase it. You know, of course, that you need to supervise any chewing, and check the toys for damage. When they're seriously damaged, it's replacement time. (We can't do rawhide because, when it gets small enough, the dog can swallow it in chunks.) Malamutes are beautiful dogs - have fun!

Kong...don't waste your money on anything else... You will soon discover that unless it feels like a Kong, it will be eaten nearly immediately!
