My youngest daughter will be turning 3 this weekend and is into a variety of things. She's full of life and a very happy girl. She likes anything girly; from wanting to be a princess to riding her tricycle. She loves to learn and picks up quickly on things. Any suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated:) Thank you!!

What can I do next?

When my daughter was 3, she liked playing dress up. We found a bunch of dress up clothes at a garage sale. I think it was someones old dance costumes. She loved it! I also bought some jewelry for her. She liked the inexpensive stuff at Wal-mart or Avon. Hope this helps.

PS. Cherish every moment, she'll be a teenager before you know it!

Enjoy your "profession" I saw some wonderful books and tapes at BooksAMillion - for a 3 year old that loves to learn what a wonderful opportunity to help discipline her "habit" for reading.

My daughter turned three over the summer and received several Barbies from family and friends. I was really surprised how much she enjoys them. They get played with EVERY day.

how about play food and dishes? If you can get a large cardboard box at an appliance store (the kind a refrigerator or dishwasher would come in). Cut a door and window in it. When our kids were little, they played with one for, literally, years. It was post office, house, bank, castle, etc. Your 2 older kids could decorate it (paint or magic marker would show up best, a fabric scrap over the window..)and it could be their gift to her.
Have fun!

Hey Angie.
We decided that when my son had his 4th birthday that he had way too many toys. So we asked people to get him educational stuff to where he could learn. Books, crayons, movies and stuff like that. Clothes is also a good thing. I mean we still got him a few toys, but he loved everything he got. I would suggest maybe some dress up clothes since she is into all the girly stuff. Books and movies are great. Blocks are agreat for any kids. You can do so many learning activities with them. Both my kids have blocks of their own. They love to build things then knock them down. Sometimes when we are putting them up we will count them or put them back in the bag by color. I hope this helps. Happy Birthday to your little one. I hope she has a great day.

I made a cake that looked like a castle. It was fun, pretty easy, and a great time for us to spend time together. I went to familyfun.com and clicked on cakes, then birthday cakes. there's lots of ideas but i loved the princess castle cake! Maybe you can have friends over and play dress up and do make up, hair, nails, and eat the castle cake! have fun!

I've gotten wonderful toys at http://www.fatbraintoys.com/ for my children and my niece and nephews. Five kids all told, ranging from 5 years on down. I highly recommend the site!

Also, for learning games, you can check out http://www.timberdoodle.com/ , which is a homeschool supplies store. I've gotten some neat building toys for our two-year-old here, as well as some geography puzzles that my nephew enjoys.

If she loves to learn & loves books, get her the Leap Frog Tag reading system. My 3 yr old loves it! Even my 6 & 7 yr old neice and nephews loved playing with it. It is a great learning tool. They can read the stories and play the games.

We had a princess party when K turned 4. It was nice weather so we had it a local park in a pavillion. Everyone brought their dress up clothes (I took every dress up outfit, frilly night gowns, halloween costume, shoes, stuff from my house too) and we cut out fabric to pin on the boys shoulders for capes and bought the foam crown sets from Hobby Lobby. Everyone brought craft leftovers, glitter glue, peel and stick foam shapes, gem stones, feathers, etc...and the kids used the foam crown shapes and made awesome head ornaments. We used a backdrop on the wall and each person had an individual picture taken in full dress up.

Since this was going to be a lot of lot of fun I didn't want to take time away and make the cake so we bought one from Wall-Mart or Albertson's, it was tall and shaped like a castle. Be aware the cake is small, the pic looks large but it was very small.

She lot several princess themed toys like Barbie, coloring sets, books, and then lots of dress up jewelry, tons of hair stuff like hair bands with lots of fluff, headbands with lots of shiney bits on them, etc...anything that looks like bling.

We let her keep some of the hair stuff in her vanity so she could play dress up with it/start learning to manage her own hair/whatever she wanted to do. And yes, I had to pick all of it up off the floor most evenings. She highly enjoyed these toys and still plays dress up with her hair stuff but at 5 is much better about picking them up herself.
