What to Feed 18-Month-old on Vacation?

I need breakfast ideas, primarily. He's never been the type of baby to eat a few cheerios in the morning. He has hot breakfast every day - eggs, french toast, waffles, etc. Our hotel room only has a refrigerator and a microwave. I figure I can get away with oatmeal twice. Any other ideas? A few lunch and dinner would be helpful also. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Bagels & cream cheese. Also, since you have a microwave you can buy precooked breakfast sausage (we get Jimmy Dean in the meat section of the supermarket) you only need to microwave them for a few seconds (directions on package) & you keep them refridgerated, not frozen. Also, you could hard boil some eggs (if you can transport them) they will stay good for a whole week. You could crack them open & break into pieces for him.

My one daughter is allergic to milk so we have to take food along for her to eat. You already have the refrigerator and microwave so you could easily make extra pancakes, freeze them, and take them along on vacation. I typically will put a serving on a microwavable plate, defrost them at 50% power for 1 minute and then heat them at regular power for 30 seconds. I am sure you could microwave a scrambled egg in a mug.

You don't mention food allergies so you could very well just share your meal as someone else mentioned.

If he is that particular than a week or so before you go make one extra serving of meals and freeze them in individual Rubbermaid containers and take them along.

Have a good time!

L.,
If he eats a hot breakfast, did you ever consider buying the frozen breakfasts (i.e they have scrambled eggs etc in them) and heating them up in the microwave? Also, frozen waffles, pancakes and/or french toast? I would think if you buy a few of these items at a time while you are there, they would store okay in the fridge until you could use them and you and the rest of your family could eat them as well.

L.,

My daughter loves the frozen Pillsbury Buttermilk Pancakes. You just heat them in the microwave for 30-60 seconds and they are really yummy!

They are in the freezer section in a blue box. I know they also make frozen french toast (not sure if it is Pillsbury or not).

You can also do soft boiled eggs in the microwave.

If you are on vacation would you not go out to eat? In any respect oatmeal is good so is yogurt. I would also try some cheerios. You could do some easy Mac in microwave.

They do make frozen french toast sticks, waffles and even pancakes. You can put them in the fridge and will be ok thawed as long as you're using them that same week. Heat them in the microwave and bring a small bottle of syrup with ya. They do have all different varieties of oatmeal so you should do fine with that. They do have microwave bacon that you can keep in the fridge. My teen son loves that stuff. They used to have frozen scrambled eggs, but also those eggs in a carton that is all mixed so you could do that in the mic as well. Don't forget microwave sausage. How about those 8 packs of little boxes of cereals? That way he could have a fun variety of cereals. What he doesn't eat for breakfast he could eat for snacks. Does the hotel offer any kind of free breakfast buffet or even juice and donuts? My triplets loved that last year when when went on vacation. There was some hot stuff, cold stuff, and also things like danishes, etc. Nice little treats.

To me "hotel"="restaurant" and that's the beauty of it! LOL
Seriously, between the oatmeal, cold cereal, etc and a few mornings at the café, you should be fine. Don't even order him a "meal", just split yours with him.
I agree with the idea of frozen stuff kept in the fridge--could you take along a toaster to use for waffles?

Hi L., Why not step out of the "hot breakfast" box and try giving him yogurt, or fruit & milk! You can cook eggs in a mirowave, but you should practice before your trip! Best wishes and have fun!
