What to Do with All Those Stuffed Animals?

I am trying to de-clutter my home and I was wondering what to do with all these stuffed animals that my daughters no longer need or use. Can they be donated? Any suggestions? None of them are brand new...but they are mostly in good shape.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for the ideas! I originally was afraid that no one would take used stuffed animals, but I am glad to hear that I don't need to throw them away. I will be washing them in the washing machine and will dry them on low. Then I plan on donating them to a local children's hospital to make a kid smile!

Child Protective Agency needs toys. So you will need to check in your area.

Contact a children's home or receiving home in your area and donate them. I had a collection of stuffed mooses and I gave to someone and they donated it to the children's home... said it gives them a sense of security when they are taken from their family.

You may want to contact your local police stations and local firehouses to see if they will accept the stuffed animals. I know some carry stuffed animals in their cars/trucks for when they have to deal with young children. My daughter had to take an ambulance ride a few months ago and the EMT gave her a teddy bear so that she wouldn't be scared. It was a nice gesture and gave her something to focus on during the ride.

Also, you may want to donate them to WEAVE, the Children's Receiving Home and other organizations that deal with young children that would have next to nothing when they arrive.

Hi I.
My son goes to Shriner's Hospital in Sacramento and occasionally they have stuffed animals that people have donated to give to the kids. He used to get so excited when we would go and there would be stuffed animals to bring home. It was obvious that the other kids felt the same way, and of course, a stuffed animal is always comforting. I know the kids there would appreciate them!!

I.,

Most stuffed animals wash up nicely in the washing machine and then can either be line dried or tumbled dry on low. Then take them to the Shriner's Hospital on Stockton Blvd. in Sacramento, or your local children's receiving home. Take your kdis with you and explain to them that they are donating to children who would love to have "new" stuffed animals and it will make the children feel great as well as your kids feeling good for doing such a great thing.
