I have a dilema, need some input. I have twins and they are in kindergarten. I can't seem to part with all the artwork and graded papers they are bringing home. What do u all do with it all?? I could put it all in bins, but I can't imagaine 12 years of bins!?!

I still have a huge pile of their artwork/papers from preschool that I don't know what to do with.
Thanks for any ideas u can throw my way! Have a great warm weekend.

We also do the memory boexs. ....had to start doing that when my 3rd daughter started preK and i realized i had all of my older kids work from PreK on up through 4th and 6th grade. i went through and kept things like journals, stories and let them decided on art work to keep....after that, the 4 boxes became one for each kid.
we also began framing their artwork. not all of it mind you, but i have a few dozen pictures framed that are around the house and one wall in the living room that is soley the kids artwork.
ive also decided to take a huge old window and make that into a frame to hold 12 more pieces of art.
my kids love that they can see their masterpieces and we get tons of compliments on them.

At the beginning of the school year I take a folder and write the kid's name, the year and their grade on it. In that folder I put special stuff from school. I do not keep everything! I put their report cards in their and special art projects, like maybe the first one of the year and the last one of the year and some holiday ones. Then there are special compositions or when they learn cursive, you get the picture.

I know some people take photos and then put them in their scrapbook. With 4 kids that's just too much for me.

I have a folder for each year of school and pretty much they fit in a bin with room for other things. Their bin (big plastic tote), we call their memory box and there are several things in there besides school projects. One of my kids has his favorite Pokemon shoes in there (they are about 10 years old).

You can't keep everything and your kids wouldn't want you to. Just be sure when you get rid of it, they are not around!

M., I have a bin that I put stuff that I want to keep in. I gave my son some big pushpin type tacks and we hang some up in his room. (this seems to be more important to me than him) the rest goes into a box which gets moved from space to space and then eventually either put into the big bin to be kept ever after or thown out. another thing we did for a long time was to fold them up and mail off to the grandparents (much easier for them to toss after speaking so said child about it lol) god luck

Hello M.,

Have a suggestion for you...

I am part owner to a greeting card company. We are doing a program called Kids 'n Charity. What we do is scan in children's (ages 1-8) artwork and turn them into greeting cards. We can turn them into an invitation, thank you card, holiday card, etc.

10 % of the profits will go towards a charity that the child has chosen. If your interested I can send you more information. We are always looking for kids artwork.

Thanks!

Hi-my girlfriend took both her kids artwork and had them scanned onto fabric and then made a quilt incorporating the artwork into the quilt-they look wonderful-she made 2 sep quilts for each child that is displayed in the home and will eventually go to each child when they are on their own-----as far as graded school papers-i have a wall in my house that the kids hang up their A and B papers-they hang them up-if the wall is full and they come home with more theyu pick which papers to take down to make room for the neww graded papers-we don't hang up C or D work-my older two ar 10 and 11-i compliment the C work but it doesn't make it on the wall-the papers that come down its their choice if they want to keep them or throw them away-good luck

I have a similar dilemma with all of my daughter's art work. She is very good at art and so far, I have kept all of it - 1/week. What I am planning on doing is scanning them in and saving to a file on our computer. Then I can figure out later on, which ones to keep or just put them all in some electronic scrapbook. Hope this helps.

Someone on mamasource posted an idea awhile back a really great idea. She said she either scans or takes a photo of each piece and then eventually turns all of those into a photobook.

I have been collecting things to do the same thing now and figure it will turn into a great coffee table book.
