What to Do???

Start walking! It works believe me. I was induced with my first child and he was born witha grade 3 bleed in his brain. So when they said they were going to induce me on my 2nd child I was scared and I made myself sick so they sent me home from the hospital and I walked all that day and the next and the next day I was in labor w/o medicine.

By law you can be 2 weeks overdue before you're required to get induced (or your doctor can't see you anymore and you'd have to go into the emergency room to give birth). If you plan on having any more children I would recommend getting a midwife. Midwives are way more understanding, personable, natural and emotionally there for you. I was 12 days overdue with my son, and I did go into labor naturally. Nearly everyone goes into labor before the 2 week deadline. If you think it's best (and there's no major risks to you and the baby), you should stick with what you want. Good luck!

If it helps, I was over three weeks late, and still delivered a very healthy boy (he is now 2). I had a midwife who was on my side with babies coming when they are ready. You could calmly, but firmly tell your doctor that your little girl will come as soon as she is ready to. I also pushed for 12 hours-as a mom already you know that this is WAY longer than average. I am a known "case" at the birthing school now. My son was tilted to the right (acenclytic), stiff necked (military), and posterior, and made me work hard for him. If I had been in the hospital they would have pushed me to have a Cesarean Birth. I would have had to stand my ground, and even then I am not sure if they would have supported my decision and trusted that I knew my body and what was happening to it. You sound like you really want this, to labor on your own. I guess I would suggest asking everyone to respect your wishes and trust you-that you do not want to endanger your daughters life either-and when/if it is really necessary to induce, you will make the proper decisions. Hope I was some help...oh, my mom only labored for 4 hours with me....I was induced. Then my brother (younger) was "late" and she labored for 8 hours. Timing is a tricky perception! I was industed do u realy want that pain again that is asking for more pain than you want and. The only way you should be indused is if you go a week or more over you'r due date

I have had three children. I had to be induced with my first and he was two weeks late. I was going to be induced with my second (ten days late) and when I was in the hospital going to be induced do to complications she was C-section. My last, they induced me after two weeks late, but again due to complications she was C-section (I was not dilating after many hours.) So, as you can tell, being even up to two weeks late with subsequent babies is not something to worry about. You do need to keep an eye on the hypertension though as this could be h*** o* you and the baby. Good luck and congratulations!!!!!

DON'T let yourself be bullied by family and doctors. Yes, listen to what your doctor suggests and keep it in mind, but don't be afraid to ask questions, and do your own research. It sounds like you have a pretty good understanding of what your situation is; know that many women go a week or more past their due dates and deliver perfectly healthy babies.
If a real emergency were to arise, I'm sure your doctor wouldn't let you go any further, but it sounds like at this point it's only a recommendation. You have to do what feels right for you, but if I were you, I'd hold out a little longer.

Hang in there, you have every right to wait. Remember, nobody can force you to go to the hospital. If they press you and you feel good about the pregnancy and nothing is wrong, set up a date for inducion you are comfortable with, like 2 weeks past your due date! (I had an induction appt set up for 10 days after my due date with no intention of showing up!) Luckily I went into labor 7 days late so it wasn't an issue.

There are also things you can do to move it along if you want to try (when you're ready, enjoy your time and remember how everything changes once the baby is here!). I recommend the SEX! I waited a week past my date then I was feeling huge, uncomfortable, and ready, so we had sex in the morning before DH left for work, then I WALKED around the neighborhood for hours, ate lunch, took a nap, and finally started having serious contractions so I got into a warm bath and called DH.

I had group B strep too, didn't worry about it. It is a nice feeling to go into labor on your own, makes you know your body knows what it's doing and gives you confidence that you can complete the cycle and have a good delivery!

I had the group B strep and I wasn't induced, and my daughter was 5 days late from her due date. If you don't induce, your child will come when they're good and ready. However, if you do induce, you get to decide when they're born!!! :) I was induced at the end of my labor as my epidural caused my labor to stop completely, and personally I'd prefer to be induced as it is much faster than being in labor naturally!!! i just joined and saw you what to do...i myself have two kids and thought i was going to have to be induce yet again...mine went ok. how did you turn out??? I thought with my second i would be way early as well but he ended up right on his due date...anyways hope everything went good for you!!!

Some women just cant go into labor naturally. My sister has had 5 children and with each one shes waited for the due date to come and go and nothing, each time she has had to be induced. I understand about doing it naturally, I would want to also, and everyone else is just wanting you and your baby to be safe. If there is no immediate danger to you or the baby, I would give it maybe another few days, to a week and if nothing then get induced. Just be very careful, because my ex-best friend waited to long and her daughter went number 2 in her water and swallowed it and contracted rsv, and she constantly had breathing problems the first 6 months of her life. I had pregnancy induced hypertension the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy, and fortunately I was delivering with a midwife who was very supportive of my desire to have a natural childbirth (she was the only one...everyone else thought I was crazy). If you stay off your feet and lay on your left side you will keep good blood flow to the baby. As long as you keep checking your blood pressure and make sure no pre-eclampsia, I say believe in yourself and wait it out. I had alot of pressure from my family to go to a hospital and induce labor due to my high blood pressure, but since I had no signs of preeclampsia my midwife supported me in staying at the birth center. There are more risks of c-section and long labor if you induce. It was really painful going 1 week past my due date as I was so impatient by that point, but when my water broke my son was born 3 1/2 hrs later. Super fast labor and worth every minute of it.

Congratulations on your new baby! I also had to be induced with my second, at 42 weeks, so they don't always come on time!

I saw your request and I thought I would give you my "2" cents worth. I just had my son 12 days ago and I was scheduled to be induced on March 27th but the hospital was so busy I didnt end up getting called in until March 30th and I wasnt even due until April 2. This was my second child and I was induced with my first child as well. If I could do it all over again I wouldnt have done it any other way. I prefer induction because I knew when I was gonna go in and I knew an approximate time frame when I was gonna have my son.

I was also a carrier of GBS (Group B Strep) and before they would start pitocin they would start you on an antibiotic through you IV and continue that ever 4 hours until you delivered your child. I am very favorable in inductions so if the doctor is telling you that he thinks you should be induced then i would go for it. The only thing with inductions is when you are put on pitocin the contractions are faster and stronger than normal labor but after your child is born it is well worth it.

It says you are due today and if you are still not thinning or dialating or anything then I would most definatly go for it. With my son I started thinging and dialating 2 weeks before my due date which is very common in 2nd or 3rd pregnancies.
