What's Your Favorite Restaurant in the NW Suburbs?
Hi Moms,
My husband and I have the rare opportunity to out to dinner for my birthday, without the kids. (Hooray!!) But we don't know where to go. Where are some of your favorite places to eat? We eat just about any kind of food... well, except sushi because I am pregnant.
I would love your input!
Thanks!

So What Happened?™
Thank you all for the great input!! We decided we're going to go to Montarra Grill on Saturday. (That description of the boursin-filled filet made me drool.) But you can bet that all these others will be going on my list for next time! Thanks again!

B. - you did not say if you wanted dressed up or semi-casual...how about something a bit north and different? The downtown Libertyville area has Vitners winery for some wine tasting then walk a few doors down to Firken or 545 North and end up at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
Here is a link and the atmosphere downtown is charming at night

When we get a night out, we enjoy going to the Melting Pot for yummy fondue. There's one in Buffalo Grove (on Rt 68 near Buffalo Grove High School) and another in Schaumburg on Golf Road, west of Woodfield Mall.
Happy Birthday and enjoy your night out!

Hi there-
Happy Birthday and congrats on the new baby coming! We really love to go to Monterra in Algonquin and the french bistro (name??) in Barrington in the Foundry. These both have very nice atmospheres and wonderful food. Can't go wrong with either. Enjoy!

I don't know exactly which restaurant you should choose but I think someplace at Woodfield Mall or Streets of Woodfield across the street from the mall would be nice. There's lots of restaurants to choose from such as Maggiano's at Streets of Woodfield and Cheesecake Factory and Texas de Brazil at Woodfield Mall. There are many others and if you're going this weekend the weather will be nice! Happy Birthday!

My favorite restaurant for seafood is Dover Straits in Hoffman Estates on Golf, just west of Higgins. Excellent food - seafood, steak, etc. Love the New england clam chowder.
Favorite BBQ restaurant: Sweet Baby Rays in Elk Grove on Higgins - just east of Arlington Heights road - great pulled pork, bbq ribs, beef brisket - yumm!

2 of our favorites when we have nice dinner out are Fuego in Arlington Heights, and Francesca's Famiglia in Barrington (I know there's one in Arlington Heights, but I like the one in Barrington better).

Happy Birthday!!!! I would like to second the mention of Fuego in downtown Arlington Heights. They have awesome mexican food, fun margaritas (pomegranate is my fave) reasonably priced and fun atmosphere. One caution though, if you go on a weekend they are busy and do not take reservations. We usually put our name in and head across the street to the Irish pub for a cocktail until they have our table ready. Whatever you decide--have a great time! One more thing, on your birthday you get a seranade at your table and a sombrero to wear and take home to keep!

Wildfire, which someone else mentioned, has great food. Buca de Beppo(better check the spelling on that!) in Wheeling is also fun, but more casual than Wildfire. If you're willing to go a little bit east, Isaac's in Highwood has amazing Mexican food.
