I agree - Melalueca has great products! And they are eco-friendly especially if you have pets who like to lick. :) I originally started using their products because of my pets. And now I will continue due to my baby girl. :)

good luck!!! Let me know if you need advice on how to get the products.

Borax and baking soda make good abrasives. I don't have tile, so I don't have to worry about moldy tile grout.

Oxyclean makes a shower /bathroom spray and it does not have bleach...hence no smell and worries about bleach spots on clothes for quick cleaning. I just spray it every day or every other day after everyone is done showering and shower is clean

Hi Moe,
I use Soft scrub! it works great and is gentle on your tile as well as your children's noses. You can take your child a bath right after you are finished. There are no fumes.

My mom uses "The Works" at the dollar tree and she loves it for her tub. I'm not sure about the shower but she loves. I use Fabuloso and Lysol but I doubt these are envionmentally safe.

Baking soda & vinegar. They can be used all over the house. The baking soda can be made into a paste with water & used a scouring powder.

I use vinegar and water and vinegar and baking soda to clean every thing. Works like a charm and is completely safe. The vinegar/water needs to sit for a bit to disinfect everything.

You can also add essential oils to help with the smell. But, I find it doesn't hang around very long.

Moe ~ what brand of products do you use? I use Melaleuca products, which are environmentally friendly, and they work FANTASTIC!! My husband works with automotive chemicals all day and when he showers, the chemicals all end up coating our shower floor. We live in a newer home and I noticed after a while our shower floor was turning grey EVEN with scrubbing it regularly with Soft Scrub. I joined as a customer with Melaleuca to have safer products in my home for my son. The first time we used the Tub & Tile, we were AMAZED!! Our shower was COMPLETELY white again and now the chemicals don't stick like they used to! It has also taken off any and all hard water spots. I love their products! One of the things I like best is that there is NONE of that horrible, choking smell you get from the cleaners that contain toxic chemicals like Tilex, CLR, LimeAway, etc. You do have to join them as a customer, like you would a Sam's Club or Costco, but the membership fee is only $29 and you just agree to buy 35 points worth of products per month to get the preferred pricing (it averages out to about $40 - $60 per month). 35 points is very easy to do as each product has it's own point value, some as small as 2 and some as large as 42. I buy about 75 - 100 points worth of products a month. They carry all your everyday items like bath and body products (shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, soap, etc.), nutritional and vitamin products, skin care and cosmetics line, laundry and cleaning products, over-the-counter pharmaceutical products and baby/kids products. You can only join through a current customer, so if you're interested, let me know and I'd be happy to help get you signed you up. :)

Your shower is suffering because we live in a hardwater area. You'll need something that removes lime. If the label doesn't specifically say that it helps fight limescale, you're not getting what you need to have a pretty shower. Limeaway is what I recommend on showers - it does the trick.

Like Shelley & Elizabeth said, Melaleuca's Tub and Tile is the BEST and is environmentally friendly too. My husband always cleans our shower. He was very skeptical. After using it, he said that it was the best stuff he's used. He had wondered how something could work so well and not be totally toxic. Shelley got us the info from Melaleuca saying that it does not have harsh chemicals. It's great!!!

Try Melaleuca eco sense Tub and Tile. You should check out their web site. I think you will be impressed with their enviromentally friendly products. They are truly incredible.

BTW Tilex and Bleach are in no way environmentally friendly and I would never stick my child in a tub I just used soft scrub on because of those terribley harsh chemicals.

Hi Moe!
First, go to www.flylady.com and you'll find tons of help and advice.
I use the clorox wand for the toilet. Love it!
I use Soft Scrub Gel for the showers and tubs. It seems to stay clean longer and since I've started using it, I haven't had to buy any "major" mold, mildew and lime cleainng products. It makes everything shiny, too. I use Spic and Span Complete Home Cleaner for the floors. I also use the Clorox Anywhere spray for doorknobs and alllll the places little ones touch.
Clean! Clean!

Vinegar in a spray bottle works well. if bathtub is grimy, you can use a grapefruit, as the citric acid will cut through it.
hydrogen peroxide if there is any mold or mildew.

Moe,

I am not sure if they are environmentally safe but CLR and Tilex mold and mildew are simply the best!!!! Of course bleach is another route.

I have heard good things about "The Method" cleaning products. I see them at Target mostly. We use the hand soaps/foams. really because I love the smell of the sweet water one.

Method's daily shower cleaner says it's environmentally friendly and best of all: it works! The only thing is to pay attention and spray only the wet parts of the shower or it leaves a visible film.

ADDING: I'm wondering about the vinegar. I know it's a disinfectant but I also heard you shouldn't use it on toilets because it will eat away at the ceramic. Is that true? I've not used it for that reason but I would rather (the stuff is cheap!)

Also, vinegar is great for floors. We had engineered wood floors put in and the installer said all we need to clean it are a swiffer-type mop filled with 50/50 water and white vinegar. If it's ok on tile, too, then my whole floor would be a cinch to clean.

I have to agree with Elizabeth S... nothing beats Melaleuca's Tub N Tile. It's the best of all worlds because it works better than anything I've ever tried AND it's safe for your family and the environment. I've been using it for almost 5 years.
