What's the Last Nice Thing You've Done for Yourself?

Moms often take a backseat.
Sometimes we need to CLIMB up into the front seat or we would stay back there forever, right?

So..what's the last nice thing you've done for yourself? When was it?

Let's see...did an evening workout at the gym for fun today.

Slept in this morning until 8:30 because it was daddy's turn to get up with the kids.

Oh and next week I'm going out of town for a girls' trip for 5 days.

Today I went to the graduation party of my most wonderful TA. Yesterday, my family joined me having dinner at In n Out (my favorite fast food), a trip to Borders, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Michael's (my favorite stores) to pamper myself spending the gift cards my TA got me. Tomorrow, my husband will take our eldest to his week-long visit to our local university while I stay home to do my homework (it's a O. hour drive and horribly inconvenient timing for him, but he insists).

After hitting complete and utter burn-out as a mom when my now-13-year-old turned 1, I've made it a point to pamper myself with a little something daily. It could be a bubble bath, it could be reading a novel for 15 minutes or it could simply be sending everyone to walk the dog so the house is quiet. But! It's every day so I don't wind up in the bleak, horrible, awful spot I was in 12.5 years ago. I will NEVER allow myself to go there again...and my family is fully supportive of this.

In my house, most days are Mother's Day! Why? Happy moms make happy, happy families.

Give it a try...

I recently started taking O. hour a day for sewing or whatever project I want to work on. I love to sew, and do most of it by hand rather than use a machine. It is my time to relax. A few years ago I got too busy to sew, but recently I decided nearly everything could wait O. little hour while I did something I enjoy and find relaxing.

I took the family to purchase new cell phones last night. I got a free upgrade, so I do not have an old "mom" phone anymore!

And next weekend, 2 of my best friends and I are giving ourselves a Fabulous, Grown up Birthday Party!!!! We are all turning 50 this spring and summer!

It is funny because when we turned 16, we all surprised each other with Surprise Parties! Some things never change.

Now I just need to make some money so I can save up for our daughters, College graduation party next spring.. Yikes!

My momma took me out to get my toes done for my birthday:) We did it late because she is busy rounding off the school year. We went over memorial day weekend. I even got my eyebrows waxed....I was starting to look like a yetti....:) I always feel like more of a ''Girlie Girl'' when they look nice.

After the week I have had here at home, I am going to round up my ladies and do a movie night or maybe even go see a movie still in the theater(which is something I dont normally get to do)

I want your evening Denise!!!!Mine was spent back at the Children's hospital ER:) So even just a pack of M&M's at this point would be a treat!!

I bought a cute blue "military style" summer dress and some cute lace flats at Kohls 2 days ago, Yay sales haha.

Since I live wit my folks, I try and go to the gym for an hour when my daughter takes a nap, makes the guilt less knowing all they have to do is just listen for her to wake up, and I get to not pay the gym every month for sitting at home haha.

Yum Denise, I bought some butterfinger snackers the other day, them things are good!

Forgave myself for letting my daughter cry it out at night.

She just turned 2 and we just weaned her of the nighttime paci. She didn't initially sleep through the night until after 1 year, and after trying everything, CIO was the ONLY method that works for her. :( She still wakes 1-2 times per night, but before was able to grab her paci and put it back in. Now we're starting over again on having to self-soothe. Torturous! But I know if I let her work it out she'll get through it much faster. I've learned in the past weeks that going to her when she wakes up only makes her more stimulated and frustrated that she's not sleeping - exactly like when she was a baby.

I got a mani/pedi/eyebrow wax a couple of weeks ago...I went to Kohls the other day and TRIED to get myself a dress but while trying on, my infant son was crying and had to eat so after feeding him in the changing room, I was out of time and had to go pick up my daughters from preschool...I am going back next week. PS My MIL is taking the girls for a sleepover for 2 nights on Monday and it will just be hubby and I and the baby. (Baby is only 7 weeks and only BF so definitely not going on a sleepover). We're going to go out on 2 dates...Monday night and Tuesday night...VERY EXCITED!! The baby will come with but it is no problem. As a mom of 3, having an infant who sleeps alot as the only O. with us is very easy! LOL

I went on a 3 day painting retreat with a landscape painter in New Hampshire to learn how to paint outdoors in the snow. Us students stayed in an old Inn and ate meals together and talked about life and art. That was in December or January......I haven't done anything else for myself since 2005 :)
Well maybe yoga sometimes and reading and watching movies after kids are in bed.

I went out with my girlfriend last night and husband watch the four kids all 8 and under.:-) but i was a little bit nervous as it was the first time he watched them for such a long time(3 /4 hours) and the first time i was letting the baby (almost 6 months)alone and i am breastfeeding her but she does fortunately takes the bottle every now and then. With the other they never took a bottle or pacifier so that is why i couldn't go anywhere ever for forever. So last night was especially sweet but i did it AFTER i cracked up so not so good.Next time i will try before i cracked up.I did and still do the mops group though twice a month and always look forward to it.

I am sitting in bed right now with coffee and computer. I got up with dh packed his lunch made coffee and breakfast, and during the school year I would have to start getting kids ready, BUT it is summer vacation and raining today, so I decided to come back here. My older two kiddos are sleeping and I handed my toddler my iphone and parked him next to me. It is nice. Sometimes doing little things for us makes us better for everyone. I am also thinking that later today I will call my bff and see if she wants to take the kids to an indoor playplace, doesn't sound like its for me but in a way it is. I will get some time with BFF while our kids burn off energy together, YAY! :)
