Hi Mommas! My son has a convertible crib that we currently have set as a day-bed. We are going to convert it to a full size bed but need to get a mattress and box spring. Do you have any suggestions on what to look for in a mattress for a little guy and why (firm, soft, pillow top, organic)? Are any better for posture than others? Are there any things to be aware of while we are shopping? I want one he can have for a long time, if possible. TIA!

What can I do next?

one that he finds comfortable , cause if he won't sleep on it it wont matter how good it is for him.

We moved our daughter from the crib to twin mattress on the floor. She didn't like to sleep on it. She ended up in our bed too many nights in a row. When we moved and was able to give her a full sized bed, we decided to buy the same kind of mattress we had. And it worked!

We got both memory foam mattresses from Walmart.com for a fraction of the price of most beds. Our mattress is a 13" and her's is an 8". Her bed is an IKEA bed that has slats....so no need for a box spring. We like that she isn't as high up.

We bought a washable, reusable 2X4 "mat" that she lies on to protect the bed from accidents (she is 4.5 now and has very few).

We've been very happy with our mattress. It's firm, but comfy.

I don't think it matters too much as long as they are comfy, and it's not going to get ruined by accidents.
