just out of curiosity... just took my 8.5yo shoe shopping, and he is in a 4 now - just seems big to me lol! he's tallish and VERY slim, with skis for feet!
on the same topic - my 5yo boy wears an 11.5, and my 2.5yo girl wears a 5.5 or 6(she's a teeny tiny little thing).

Just like me being 44 and asking what size other 44 yo's wear to compare, everyone is different so there really is no comparison. My 8.5 yo wears a 4.5 or 5. As long as you are buying shoes that fit him, then they are the correct size. Good luck.
Not an 8 year old boy but for comparison my six year old daughter wears a 2! My three year old daughter wears a 10.5. They have huge feet compared to their friends and are also very tall.
My daughter is 8 and wears a womans 5 or 6. she is very tall (over 100 percentile) and wears a size 14/16 in girls. i hate having to buy her new clothes. they are mostly for older girls and skanky looking. lol.
My son is 8 and he is in a size 6 shoe. My other son is 5 and he is in a size 13/1. Your kids have small feet! lol

my 4 yr old is a 121/2 & 2 yr old 8 (toddler)

Hmmm. Guess my son's on the short/small side. He's nearly 10 and I just bought him a size 3 1/2.

my girls have huge feet like me!! lol, im an 11 in womens. but i am also 5' 11" tall, so im pretty sure i will have tall girls as well
My son will be 9 next month and he wears a 6. I don't think your sons feet are big..my 5 almost 6yo wears a 1! Your kids feet are tiny compared to mine..lol!
My nine year old son is in a size 3. He will be in a four very soon since his toes are right at the edge.

My son seemed to be a size 3 for a long time and then he finally went to a size 4 at 8 and half years old. Now he just turned 9 and a half and he's wearing a size 5. (He's just a bit taller than average for the boys in his class and he's on the slim side.)
FYI-His twin sister wears a 3 and a half to a size 4 depending on the shoes.
My 9.5 yr old wears a 5.5 he's also just a hair shy of 5 ft my little guy is 4 and he wears a 9.
My 8 yo grandson wears a size 4. His 11 yo sister wears a woman's 61/2.
My 8 yo wears a 4 in baseball spikes, 3.5 in athletic shoes.

It is proportionate to her frame.
All the kids in her grade level, her included, are on the tall side.

It looks like my kids have small feet from your responses! My son is 8.5 y.o. and in a size 1.5~2, and my 6.5 y.o. girl is only in a 10 (toddlers), my other son is about to turn 3 in less then 2 weeks and is in a 7 (toddlers).
Hi J. - my son just turned 9. He's about 75% for height and he wears a 4.5 or a 5 depending on the shoe.
My oldest just turned 9 and he wears a 3. My 5.5yr old wears a 12, and my 4yr old wears a 7 without AFO's, an 8 with her AFO's on. She's a tiny thing too!

My 8 year-old daughter wore a size 4... At nine, she still wears a size 4 and I'm OK that her feet seem to have taken a slight growing break! She's tall for her age, too. She wears a size 14 in clothing.

My 5.9yo son is in a size THREE! He is 4 feet 1 inch tall.
I'm 5 feet 11 in and I wear a size 10.
DH is 6 feet 4 in and wears a size 13.
So they'll probably end up over 6 feet tall and size 13 or bigger shoes.
My 7y/o (will be 8 in October) wears a size 3.
~As a Mom/Auntie to a whole grip of boys, I think your son is about right for his age...but keep in mind my husband wears a 12 1/2 and my BIL wears a 13, so I am used to the boys/men having BIG feet!

Wow! My 8 year old is big for his age and we have always noticed he has large hands and feet, but he wears a 3. So, yeah, 4 would look quite large! Sounds like he might end being a tall man!

My 7.5 year old boy is tall and super skinny and his size 2 shoes are to small. I am guessing we will end up in a 3. My 2 year old boy is wearing a 7.5 so he has big feet too. Girls are smaller or more normal I guess cuz my daughter is 4 and wearing a 8.
My 6 year old wears a 2 1/2 or a 3. He is very tall, he wears a size 8 jeans just for the length and I have to wrap a belt around him to keep them up lol!
