I'm writing a magazine article about how a baby's smile changes from 0-12 months. What makes (or made) your baby smile? And do you have any recommendations for books that can make a baby smile? Please include your first and last name if you want to participate.

I would read the book, "I Love You Through and Through" to my third child a lot. I would 'act out' the pages and touch/tickle the body parts as I read the book. Now when I tell him that I love him through and through, he waits for me to tickle him! It was a great way to connect!!!!

P. (love your name, it would have been my son's name if he wasn't a son) -

My 11 week old, Ryan, smiles:

When he hears my voice when I pick him up at daycare

When we smile at him

When we just talk directly to him

When his 2 y/o brother runs up to him and yells "RYYYYYYAAAAAAN!"

When we sing Itsy Bitsy Spider to him.

At about 8 weeks, Ryan actually laughed out loud when I was singing "Rock a Bye Baby" in a silly voice for my older son while holding him.

My 2 year old Jacob smiles:

When he's doing something he shouldn't be ;)- lol

What a fun question, it put an actual smile on my face thinking about all the things that make my boys smile. Thank you!

My 4 month old son loves his daddy. He smiles when daddy comes home from work. He also loves books about baby faces. Sometimes I pull up videos of babies laughing on you tube and he laughs at those too.

my baby smiled when i would tickle her feet around 4-6 months. at 6(+) months, she smiled when i pushed her in the baby swing hanging from our tree. and one thing that still makes her smile is if i rub my index finger around her face and across her nose (it especially gets her when i go around her little cheeks). i would say "around the face", then tell her the parts of her face. my daughter smiled a lot and still does, but those are a few things.

My little girl Ella smiles all the time. She is now 6 months old and smiles when she sees me first thing in the morning when she wakes up, when we bounce as we walk down the stairs, and when she is laying on her back holding her feet and I try to gently pull them out of her hands. She thinks that last one is hilarious.
At 3 months she really liked playing patty-cake. She has always liked when we play with her hands/feet...clapping them together or just moving them around.

It was and still is random noises and insane faces. She loves being bounced and jiggled.

I tickle my 7 month old's ribs and his feet! He smiles and laughs. We also make like a burping sound and he laughs at that and he loves to smile and laugh when his 3 yr old brother blows on his belly! But to be honest he pretty much smiles at anything! I guess he's a happy baby!

The thing that makes my 7 month old smile the most is when Mommy talks to her. Especially if she's wanting attention. And if I talk to her in a high, happy voice and smile big, I get tons of smiles and jabbering back.

Also, anything her older sisters do seems to be hilarious to her.
