Soccer, soccer, soccer- At that age they just get to run and try to stay somewhat on the field. If he is high energy, this is the sport for him!

Gymnastics would be great to start at this age. I have a 2 year old and am thinking of enrolling her in a class. She loves to jump and climb.

I'm a black belt at American Karate School. I am not active right now b/c of the children but I love it there. The instructor/owner is a woman with lots of patient.
I see you are from Corpus so that doesn't help but you can check out some in your area.

Soccer Tots is your answer. They are family friendly and they take children 3 and up. This will allow him to have a positive environment to burn off his energy but it will show him teamworking skills as well.
Good luck

My 3 year old is in Tae Kwon Do. It allows him to burn his energy (he is VERY energetic), and it teaches him to focus that energy into something. 3 days a week he gets to go do stuff with other little ones.

The corpus christi athletic club has tae kwon do classes that start that young. they are on tues/thurs @ 5:30 (i think, make sure they havent changed the time). the instructor is soooo good with little kids. at that age there are no compitions they have to go to etc. my daughter (11) got her black belt a year ago from taking classes there. You can take him up there to try a class and see if he/you like it. I can't say enough about the respect they learn from martial arts.
