What Item Would Work to Hold Newborn onto My Body Comfortably?
My one month old baby wants to be held constantly. I have the time and don't mind doing it, only problem is my carpel tunnel in BOTH hands is wicked bad. She prefers leaning onto my chest, and for short times I can hold her with my forearms, I can't lean my hands forward at my wrists to really hold her right for longer periods. I bought an Evenflo "Snugli" carrying gizmo... but the part between her legs is SO wide and she's so tiny, it doesn't look very comfortable, it's like she's doing a split or something... I also have a big cloth I could use as a sling but I don't really know how to tie/knot/fashion it to hold the baby, though I've tried and tried I gave up! Any advice on what I could try to affix this little one onto me in a comfortable way? Thanks in advance for the advice! :)

Another cool thing that a friend of mine has is called a "peanut shell" baby sling. As far as I'm aware, the only place to get them (besides possibly ebay) is www.goo-ga.com. It's pretty versatile and is supposed to last all the way till they are toddlers!

I carried my baby until she was about 18 months old (she was a very big baby and I am small so I had to stop b/c of her size). I tried and had 3 different baby swings. The one I would absolutely recommend is Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. You can get it on line or you can get it from your local La Leche League (go on line to find your nearest group). If you get in touch with your local group they will help you learn to use it. It really is about having someone who really has had the experience teach you how to do it. I went crazy the first couple of weeks I brought my baby home until I had someone teach me how to get her in and out and then it was cake for the rest of the time.
Good Luck,

I would highly recomend a Moby wrap. You can find them on online auctions and on the internet in general. It's easy to use. It is a long stretchy piece of fabric that you wrap cartin (easy) ways. The baby can be right on your chest and is not bulky. They even sell one that has SPF in the fabric.

I don't know if it's still available, but there was a time when snugli made a sling-style carrier. You didn't need to figure out how to tie it, it just had an adjustable buckle. It's called the snugli early care sling carrier. You can find them on EBay, no problem. I just looked and found a few.
Babies R Us also carries a product called a sling rider, by Infantino. It is the same idea, if you would prefer to buy new, and costs $30. Again, no figuring out how to tie it on and make sure baby won't fall out, just an adjustable buckle.
Good luck, and congratulations!

I love wearing my baby b/c I can use my hands & still have her against me when she needs it~ not to mention she loves it! I have a Gypsy Mama Bali Breeze wrap that I LOVE, the snugli that you have was my first purchase, & a sling. You can check out www.attachedtobaby.com & find tons of different types of carriers :) I've heard the ergo was the best (if you don't want to tie it & would rather clip) but it was also very comfortable. It's all personal preference. Good luck

Hi K.!
I used the Baby Bjorn religiously with my son who was very, very snugly, attached, and colicy!! You can hike up the settings to keep them very snuggled in there, and I didn't put my sons arms through the holes, I just let him put them in right next to his face and he would fall right asleep. I got tons done like that!
The Sling Riders are also very cool. I saw one at Target just today! I should have tried that too. My sister swears by this thing called a "Sarah's Ride"...I don't know where you can get them; I think she got hers at a little boutique in New York City. Whatever you do, good luck! I feel your pain!!

there is a wonderful sling made by a company called hotslings.com they are wonderful! you have so many different styles of print to choose from, they are made acourding to your own measurments so it will be a perfect fit, they are affordable, if there is ever a problem dealing with size they will fix it free of charge which also includes shipping, they fold up nicely into your diaper bag, they are fool proof, no rings, snaps or anything. you can use them fo so many different holds. I used mine for all three of my children, i assure you they rock!
