What Is Your Favorite Sippy Cup?

The selection out there is dizzying...
And now, with the scare of bisphenol-A (BPA) I am of course inclined to stay away from that. We use the Gerber cup now but I don't like that the soft spout takes on dishwasher detergent odors (and I understand that cup is not bpa free). I recently purchased the Born Free cup but bought the trainer rather than drinking cup spout (so had to cut the slits to make it flow better).
My baby will be turning 1 next month and will be transitioning to milk.
We are often on the move so I think an insulated cup would be nice to have.
I am curious what other mom's thoughts are.

What can I do next?

Hi H. - I actually found that a lot of the sippy cups do not have BPA in them. Someone gave a website, I think it was safemama.com or something to that effect, and they had a list of BPA free bottles and sippy cups. I was happy to see that the NUBY cup that I used for both of my sons was listed under BPA free, I liked that one b/c it had a silicone spout, easy to transition from the bottle.

I agree with the other poster, I have tried all kinds of sippy cups, but the ones with a straw work best for us.

My nephew is 16 months and my sister started him on a sippy at 1. She got a "safe sippy". Its insulated metal-no plastic, and no valve. Do a yahoo search. I don't know where you live, but theres a store in Marblehead that sells them. I think for $15. My daughter is only 5 mo, but I will get one for her soon. M.

I loved the Avent sippy cups. The bottles are not BPA free but the sippy cups are and they are a better size then the Born. They also leak less!

My mother-in-law gave my two kids (1 and 3) beautiful Sigg stainless bottles. They are great because they don't stain or smell and don't leach pesky chemicals like the plastic bottles do. They are so popular that they had to close their online store, but you can find them at LL Bean.

There is a BPA free insulated sippy cup at babies R us. I can't think of the brand but they do carry one. Good luck.

I am now using a stainless steel sippy cup by Kleen Kanteen... Or Klean Kanteen... It comes with Avent sippy tops and will convert to a water bottle with a regular top when my son is older. He is fine with the amount of water flow. The only issue we have had with it is that it is quite cold for him to hold. I put a sock around it, but apparently you can get neopryne covers for them now. The tops clean easily in the dishwasher. We love it. Good luck!

My baby is 9 months and also uses the Born Free sippy cup, however I found the Klean Kanteen brand of stainless steel bottles and sippy cups to be ideal. The water/beverage stays cool even when it is warm out and they don't smell like plastic after running them through the dishwasher. For babies, they have a 12 oz sippy cup and then the sizes go up from there. My 5 year-old uses one as well and her only complaint for the first day or two, was that it tasted like metal. Another down side for some, but not my child, is that it does not have handles. I suppose you could slide on the Born Free handle attachment if you need to. Good Luck!

After investing probably thousands in sippy cups and still investing the only cup that I have found to work the best in all areas is playtex. It is a little more costly but well worth it.

I love the nuby sippy cups. It was a good transition for my daughter from bottle to cup, and now that she's almost 2 she still loves it. The part I like about it is that it's no spill, which means when she decides to fling it around I don't have the same mess to clean up as I did with the other ones!
Good Luck!

I like the nuby brand. They have no valves so they are easy to clean. They also have cups with straws that twist closed when not in use so that they stay clean.

my son use Siggs sippy cup (we got it at Wholefood and EMS), Klean Kanteen bottle with sport cap, and Nagelne (BPA free) toddler sport bottle.. but i hand wash it. those all works good and my son loves it. My son use Born Free sippy cup (we dont cut the nipple but remove the vent air part) and he grow out of it. I am saving it for my 2nd baby :o) (my son is 2 and half yrs old).

my son rather Klean Kanteen bottle mostly. (i used it with avent's green nipple 9 mos + at first then i switch to 18+mos n up's nipple, then now we use sport cap on ir)

Because I am using more organic products trying to keep my family safe from plastics and pesticides, etc. I tried the Safe Sippy and the Klean Kanteen sippy cups. The safe sippy was at first preferred by my daughter but we found it can leak especially if the top isn't on properly which can happen easier than expected. The Klean Kanteen's look didn't catch me for anything but we actually now prefer it and use those most of all. My daughter & nephews love them! Actually, because not many people have them, it's even more beneficial in cases of misplacing and not confusing your sippy cups with others!
