What Is the Most Accurate Pregnancy Test??

You could go down to the clinic (planned parenthood) for a pregnancy test. I don't think that they would charge you, if they do I don't know how much. Are you able to get onto HMO or something like that? Are your kiddos insured? Congratulations if you are pregnant. Good luck.

For best results, wait until after a missed period (usually you have enough HCG hormones built up by then). You can get false NEGATIVES but not false positives. I had to take two tests (the 2nd the day of my missed period) before I got a positive result. I've had generic tests work but I've also had them not work at all (not even the "control" line didn't show).

Do you chart at all or know when you ovulated? Wait 14 days past ovulation and then take the test if still no period. Good luck! :-)

I have not had luck with over the counter tests. If you have a public health clinic or a planned parenthood they usually do testing based upon income. If you call your local hospital they can give you some information.

I was told that pregnancy tests could not give false positives. They can only give false negetives. When I became pregnant with my 1 and only (right now). I called to have an "official" pregnancy test done, and they didn't even see me. They just referred me directly from my family practitioner to a ob/gyn without a visit or an official doctors pregnancy test. All because I had peed on my own stick at home and I called my doctor to say I was pregnant. My understanding is that the hormone that reads on the pregnancy test is only in your urine when you're actually pregnant. No other things can cause a positive. The only exception that I know of is if you miscarry, for a little while after that you can still have a positive test result. False negatives are different. You can be pregnant and recieve a negative, if you test before your body is producing enough hormone to trigger the positive result. That's why you have to wait until you've actually missed your period, or you need to use those new fangled ones that say 5 days before your missed period, etc. This is what I understand, anyway. Go to a Planned Parenthood. There are several in Pierce County. Depending on your income you have to pay, but it's nothing like paying at the Doctor's Office. Good Luck with a pregnancy without medical... I was lucky enough to have it when i was pregnant and then was without for four years.

I've had luck with EPT. Only a blood test can confirm though. Planned Parenthood may be a great resource for you since you will need prenatal care if you are pregnant. They are usually free or cheap depending on your circustances.

okay honestly if you are pregnant the dollar store has tests that work just fine...if you are pregnant the second line pops right up and you can see it very clearly...and it is only a dollar...i was obsessed with taking tests with both of my pregnancies and have many from both...i used the one that says pregnant or not pregnant and just about every one...the dollar one is just as good...just my opinion :) good luck

just buy a test and take it. if it comes back negative then take it again in a few days. the only full proof accurate way to know is with a blood test. good luck!

Sole purpose of Planned Parenthood is abortion - your local health department (number is in the yellow pages OR call your local WIC) will do it (mine was 15 dollars on a monthly income of 2000 -they use a sliding scale) and it is accurate. They also do free birth control just so everyone knows. Plus the health department will do up the correct papers to get on state medical should you need to, and can do all your regular visits as well. I don't know what your beliefs are, but if you want a medical clinic then use the health department. False positives on a pregnancy test, even dollar store ones, only occur when taking certain medications or if the test is expired. Best of luck!

I think you'll probably find a wide variety of people love one test and hate another. I've only used two tests and had great results with them....they are First Response and Clearblue digital. I charted my cycles for a year before I got pg with the 7mo I have now, and I knew when I ovulated. I first tested + at 10 past ovulation. That is pretty early though. I don't think there is a 100% foolproof test. There is always a margin for error. That being said I used the EPT for both of my kids. You can buy a two-pack, take one, wait a week or so then take the other one. I really liked the EPT.

With my son I took it after I was a couple of days late getting my period. It said pregnant and I was. With my daughter I took it the day after I missed, and I was. With her though my hubby knew/suspected 2 weeks before I missed. I never saw it but everyone said I glowed while I was pregnant with her.

My other thought, as much as I hated it here in the Seattle area is the DSHS medical coupons. I was on them when I was pregnant with both of my kids even with insurance. There is also WIC (Women Infant and Children) that you and both of your girls can get on. It's kind of like food stamps. They give you vouchers for milk, eggs, peanut butter, staples like that.

False negatives are much more common then false positives. The only sure way not to have a false negative is to wait. The longer your pregnant the higher the HCG concentrations are. Also, doing the test with your first morning void does make a difference! I always just used the tests from the dollar store. Worked just fine with three pregnancies, including the months of trying. I have issues with spending upwards of $10 on one test! Good luck!

I didn't like spending a lot of money either - I would buy 5 at the Dollar Store. False positives are very unusual - most of the time you can get a false negative or a stick that doesn't work at all. The most accurate test of course is to go to the doctor and pee in a cup. If you have no medical, Planned Pregnancy or other family planning clinics will give you the test for free. When my husband and I had no insurance, I would go there for my yearly exams, birth control, and pregnancy tests. Best of luck!

I have a 10 month old and am still breastfeeding and just went through 3 negative EPT tests. I finally had to do a blood test 10 days after my missed period. That told me I was pregnant. I had home test that gave a faint line and it was a ageneric safeway brand. Wait and do the test with your first pee of the morning that was the one that gave me a faint line.
If you don't have medical how are you going to get care for yourself when you are pregnant?

Make sure you wait until you missed your period and buy a double pack and take both tests.

Planned Parenthood does free testing. Ballard Swedish does free testing as well so I imagine other hospitals might if Ballard isn't close to you. Good luck. M.

do you have a planned parenthood where you live? They will be able to tell you for sure which would be the best, they usually work on a sliding scale and may be able to help you get a blood test to verify. I have used them where ever I have lived, and they have always been a huge help, and a fountain of information.
I don't know how breastfeeding will affect the test, I honestly never thought about it. I am pregnant with my first after 25 years of infertility!!
Birthrite also does free testing, but it is a urine test, and while they use a test kit with a good reputation, you are breastfeeding. So even calling a Planned Parenthood from another town, a nurse there maybe able to answer your questions. Let us know what you find out...I may need to know someday!! Needing birthcontrol is a strange thought for me..

I personally have had the best results with the First Response Early Result test as well as the First Response digital one. You can go to www.peeonastick.com and see the list of tests and it tells you which ones are more sensitives and which ones have had problems. False positives are very rare.

Also, I totally agree with the comments about going to Planned Parenthood. They can help you.

I always had good luck with the Digital response test. I think it is by First Response...not sure exactly. I never had a problem and it came with a couple tests. I needed that extra one cause I couldn't believe my eyes the first time! Good luck.

I am pretty sure that planed pregnancy will give you a test for free. I know that Tacoma Family Medicine in Tacoma by TG will give you a test for free too.

Having no medical and being pregnant.. that is scary.. I would start off by calling your local health department and explain your situation.. I am sure they would be able to direct you to a doctor that would be able to provide pre natal care maybe for free or on a sliding scale.. (I see signs in seatle for free pregnancy testing at some clincs) You owe it to yourself to take care of you and posilbly the baby on the way.. especially since you have other children :)

I went to the dollar store and bought a pregnancy test so I guess it depends on you.

I always used tests from the dollar store.They never let me down.I even used them BEFORE my period was due and they picked up the HCG.

The only time a woman would get a true "false positive" is if she was on a fertility treatment, like clomid. Perhaps the "false positives" you read about were evaporation lines, which I have seen on tests--but they are not colored, like the POSITIVE test line would normally be.

You can check the packaging to see which tests are the "most sensitive", meaning how much of the (hcg) hormone they are designed to detect before showing a positive. The more sensitive, the more likely they will show the positive close to the time of your missed period.

I purchased some lab-strip tests from a website, and they are exactly the same as the ones the dr. uses. They were only $.85 a piece or something like that, (I bought ovulation strips as well when we were TTC--WAY cheaper than the drug store ovulation tests!!!). I still didn't get my "super obvious" positive until 2 or 3 days after my missed period. But, about 4 days before my missed period, there was definitely a faint pink line--just not red like the control line.

I agree with the other ladies. I bought tests from the dollar store and they were right every time! If it says negative and you still think you're pregnant, take it a few days later. That happened to me...I just knew I was pregnant, but the test said negative. So, I waited a few days and walaa, it was positive! I was already 7 weeks along! My body takes forever for the HCG to show up. Maybe your'e the same? Good luck!

Just make sure you are at the time of your missed period. They all work if you wait till then. If you try to test early, it's hit and miss if they'll pick it up. I've never had a problem with a test not working. I've used the store brand like target or what ever is the cheapest at the store. Good luck.
