My first one did, she cried, and I soothed her and stayed up the rest of the night, and you will be happy to hear she was valedictorian in HS, and has her Masters and will be going for her PHD. Stuff happens and just to make us worry more. Unless there is some sort of difference in her regular activities, don't worry.

My grandmother always says "if they haven't fallen off the bed by 6 months, you should push them off!" So it sounds like you're right on schedule. lol.

As you can tell by all the replies you've received, just about all babies fall sooner or later. My daughter fell off the bed at 3 months. They almost never have any long lasting problems. Maybe a bump or bruise once in a while. But nothing serious. But, all that aside, if you are that worried, at least, call the doctor. He/She may not even need to see her. I'm sure she is fine, but if it will ease your mind then do it.

Hello, namesake! I agree completely with Jenn D's response. However, if this is the first time your child fell, I would recommend seeing a doctor even if she looks OK -- you never know. I would also, if you can, stay home and watch her for the rest of the day to make sure no new symptoms arose hours later.

Hi R.,

My son fell off the bed when he was about 7 months and I was terrified too. He fell back to sleep within 10 mins of the fall which scared me cuz they tell you thats not good. So I immediately took him to the Peds and got him checked out and he was fine. But my doctor told me that you should always bring your baby in after a fall like that to make sure. So I would advise just to make sure and peace of mind to take her to the doctor.

R.,
Yes, the same thing happened to me while my husband was watching the baby. It seems to be a rite of passage for a lot of parents. If your baby started crying once they hit the floor then everything is probably OK. It's when they are not crying or unconscious that there is a problem. Although, it never hurts to get it checked out just to calm your fears, especially if the fall was 3 feet or over. By the way, my son also purposefully banged his head a lot on the floor when he was having temper tantrums and he's absolutely fine.

My son fell off our bed when he was 12 months old, and I was terrified because it's kind of high! The dr. said as long as he cried right away and for a short period of time, that he was fine. If they don't cry and appear to be drowsy and "out of it" afterward, then you need to call 911. Especially if there is bleeding and/or vomiting.

hi R. S ,my baby is also 6mth old n same incident happen with my child also,he cried for while but know he is fine.if she is crying non stop then u should visit doctor otherwise she is fine nothing to worry about.

It happened to us, too. Definitely call the doctor and don't be worried they'll think you're horrible parents. It's better to check in with the doctor than to not call and have there actually be a problem you didn't identify. Turned out fine for us.

Good luck.

OH YES, this happened to me --- As long as your baby is not acting lethargic or disoriented. As long as her eyes don't look funny - blank, dialated or non reactive, she is probably fine. My son fell off onto a hardwood floor. He screamed for a long time and got a big bump - a bump/bruise is actually good I was told b/c that means the bruise is not internal or something like that. I told my doctor of course just to be safe and my doctor said babies heads are harder than you could imagine and their bodies are so limber that it really takes A LOT for them to get hurt. Its so scary and upsetting though! If you are worried, take her the to the doctor to be checked - it will ease your mind and my motto is better safe than sorry! Although I'm sure she's fine!
