What Is the Best Light Weight Umbrella Stroller?

I currently have a Peg Perego stoller, but have found it to be too big and bulky for mall shopping (typical use). Does anyone have any suggestions for a good lightweight umbrella stroller that will (a) cost less than $100, (b) withstand a child throughout toddler years and (c) take up little space when folded?

What can I do next?

I love my Maclaren. I know it cost a little bit more than $100, but you can find them online with free shipping a lot of times. My cousin has 3 kids and has used hers for all 3 kids. It is very lightweight and easy to get in & out of the car. Good luck!

i have a chicco brand umbrella stroller for my daughter, it is stylish and very lightweight and portable. I think it was around $60 or so...she is almost two and has withheld a lot of travels ... several trips through the airport and everything ... i can't remember the exact model, but it is lime green with circles, but they have a nice dark orange color that i will buy for my new baby boy once he is old enough to sit up! i just love it.

I found that the umbrella strollers from Wal-mart work pretty good for the mall. They are very cheap, very light and take up very little room. They also worked good all the way through the toddler years. My child has just recently quit using the stroller since she is getting too big for it. She's five and tall for her age.

I found a MacClaren (sp?). It folds up like an umbrella stroller and I still use it for my almost 4 yr old son. It is taller than the 20.00 ones at WalMart. The only problem with it is your child needs to be able to sit up as they don't adjust. It has enough of a recline that my son is able to fall asleep in it if he wants, though. I believe Babies R Us sells them for about a 100.00 but they are small enough to get around the most crowded aisles.

We love our maclaren, my husband refused to use our big "macdaddy stroller" our's is the triumph, not sure of the price.
Takes up little space, and is durable, so far so great!

I have the Chicco Capri stroller and it's much sturdier than a typical umbrella stroller while being very light, small and easy to handle. It's about $60 at Babies R Us.

You could try a thrift store or a consignment and find a great used stroller. They are generally very inexpensive.

The only unbrella stroller I've ever used is the 15 dollar ones from Walmart. And not till my kids were closer to 1yr old. Other than that, I've always used my Graco (it's one that comes with the car seat) while they were younger in the malls or just out for a walk. At least that way you can lay then down if they are sleepy and have the basket underneath for your purse and shopping bags. Not all stores are stroller friendly with how they have their racks set up (Belk is one) but that is just something as a mom we have to put up with once in a while.

Good luck!!
