Hi I just wanted a reminder that people like me are out there. My family keeps giving me a hard time about being so different. Crazy things like homeopathics, whole foods, being with my child so much... You know I'm a barefoot, skirt wearing kind a mama.
So are you out there? And whats your best remedy?
Mine top 3 are Pulsatilla, Anrica ointment, and Rescue Remedy.

So What Happened?

Thank you Ladies for all your lovely responses. It brings joy to my heart to know I'm not the only natural mama out there. As a thank you here's my raw foods Brownie recipe.
1 bag organic raisins (I think it's 1lb)
1 c dried cranberries
1/2 c ground sunflower seeds
1/2 c ground walnuts
1/4 c ground flax seeds
6 T coco powder
about 1/2 - 3/4 c peanut butter room temp (any nut/seed butter really)
drizzle maple syrup optional

Grind the sunflower seeds and walnuts, I use a hand crank one, or the extra coffee grinder. Mix in the flax and coco into the nut mixture and set aside. Layer 1/2 the raisins 1/2 cranberries, then the other half of each in a food processor and pulse until there broken and all sticky. Open processor, and dump 1/2 the coco mixture around. Close processor and pulse till it's mixed in, then repeat with the rest of the coco. It should look a crumblely mess now. Add about 1/2 c peanut butter and blend it in. Take the top off, you may want to stir the bottom up (I have to with mine), then add more peanut butter and blend it in. Grab a spoonfuls amount and squeeze it to see if it holds together. If not add more peanut butter. The peanut butter mixes in better when room temp or higher, and then you don't have to use as much. Oil a glass baking pan, I use 11x9 or something like that. Press the brownies into the pan and chill. They cut and hold together better cold. I've been able to replace most treats with these.
Raisins have fiber, iron and antioxidants, cranberries fiber and antioxidants, sunflower seeds have vit E, walnuts have healthy fats, and protein, ground flax seeds have omega 3's and good fiber, coco is fun, peanut butter for protein.

Thank you again, A. H

Hi A.! Thank you for your support in homeopath! We use a few things. I'm sure I'll forget some as I write though. We also use the well known Hylands products. I like Elderberry syrup for colds. We use raw garlic for everything! Raw foods in general are great for immune system issues. I'm a firm believer that food should be our medicine.
I use vinegar in my wash a lot; especially for my diaper covers. We also eat an all natural diet consisting of mostly organic foods. Sometimes it's hard when organic isn't always available. I've been pregnant this winter season and it's been really difficult to find fresh organic foods for the family. Bummer.
We also like herb teas. Pregnancy tea and raspberry leaf tea from traditional medicinals. Nettle tea and mothers milk tea for lactation. Ginger tea, mint tea, elderberry tea, echinacea tea, camomile...
Almond milk is a great alternative to dairy. It's also very easy to make.
That's all I can think of right now. It was good to hear from you.

Hey A.! I applaud you for using natural remedies! One of the thing we use is charcoal. It's great for intestinal issues. My 2 year old can swallow a capsule, my four year old drinks it powdered in juice. It'll suck all sorts of junk out of the body. We also gargle it when we have a sore throat. Or make a pultice using it for beestings, infections, etc. I'm also a fan of eucalyptus oil. We put a drop in 2 T of honey and eat a spoonful before bed when we have a cough. We also do footbaths with eucalyptus oil in it for congestion. It's great! Along with plenty of fresh food and whole grains, we also try to use lot of onion and garlic around here to keep the immune system up. Natural is definitely the way to go. Keep it up!

It is nice to know there are other mamas out there who are like me. Though we don't use a ton of homeopathic remedies are here (we tend not to need remedies of any sort) I swear by rescue remedy and arnica too. and as for the family thing? I am slowly getting them to realize that I might actually know what I am talking about. :)

Whoo hoo! A natural momma! I love the books by Rosemary Gladstar. She is the queen of herbs. I'm actually thinking about going to school here and getting certified in Holistic Health. I've heard a lot about Rescue Remedy but never tried it. I drink ginger for everything stomach related. For my daughter the brand Hylands has some awesome homeopathic stuff. I have a hard time with my family, too, sometimes. I just shrug it off : )

I'm a wana-be homeopath...I've been slowly introducing whole foods to my family over the years. I always love learning more about natural remedies. I think the body is an amazing thing and a wonder. The world around us (family) just resists every step of the way... The other day I made tacos and my brother stopped by to eat with us. He threw a fit because I offerred him whole wheat tortillas!
All I can say is keep on doing what you are doing and know that it is becoming more mainstream as the world catches up and becomes more educated. Thanks for being you!

I use alot, i love Garlic and Tea Tree Oil mostly. I can buy a clove of garlic for $.39 so that's a no brainer. My daughter who is 4 now has never been to the Dr. other than well baby visits. I also believe in alot of fluids daily. That helps flush out toxins. When she had a cold or I peeled down the clove and chopped it up and put it in her food. she was fine. If she gets a fever I rub Tea tree oil on her head, etc. If there is a rash i apply it there.
My kids have never had diaper rash. I credit that mostly to frequent diaper changing. I also let them run around naked as much as I can. That area needs air.

My son had an wart on his foot above the heel and I went to the Dr, they were worried about the tendon, and opted to not remove it, I had them try to freeze it, no luck, scraping, no luck either. I finally went back to the Tea Tree Oil and applied it liberally to the area daily and at night I put it on a bandage and apllied it for two weeks. It vanished! Never came back.

So,A. I applaud you for giving what God has provided to treat your family. As do I. Not only is it cheaper, it keeps your kids from developing an immunity to antibiotics if they would require them in the future.

Good Luck,

Ang

Hi A., My name is D.. I don't know if I am a user of Homeopathics so much as I prefer to use essential oils and natural cures as opposed to medicine. Most people find me unusual and if I could get away being barefoot all the time, I would. :) I would love to see the world go back to the days when we grew our own food and raised chickens in the front yard. There are more of us out there than you would guess. I grew up in a home where we had a huge garden and mom canned and made her own jams/jellies. I think living simpler is better. I am even an occomplished seamstress and would make all of our clothes if my teenagers weren't so picky about things. So, keep doing things the way you are and be true to your heart.

Hi I'm S., mother of three and I'm more of the 'natural' type myself. I've seen a chiropractor since I was a baby (he essentially did much of my mother's prenatal care) and I've always taken my girls to the chiro the day they come home from the hospital. Right now I have a 4 yo w/ a bad earache and we are treating it w/ antranex (bacterial agent), colostrum (immune stimulation) and congaplex (drainage) all by standard process. I don't immunize and I don't get in the way of fevers - just monitor them. My kids only go to the dr's when they absolutely have to (like if lilly's ear isn't better by tomorrow we'll have to go in) and only one of my children have ever been on an anitbiotic for her ear. You're so not alone and it can be a tough road w/ some ppl. I found one of the best ways (for me) to feel really, really comfortable with the choices I make is to "KNOW" why I'm doing what I'm doing. To have at least a basic understanding of how the body works and why a natural way can and often is the best way - so I can 'defend' myself (for lack of a better word) when ppl come up against me. Especially the doctors or close relatives. Thankfully most of my family leans this way so it's not as stressful for me. WTG A.!!!

Edited to add: Not sure where you are located but here is the website to my 'source' - they are awesome and can help w/ lot's of info from nutrition to supplements. http://www.breastcheckup.com/home.html

Bravo to all of us! We're not crazy just smart! I love the Arnica product, nettie pots and Biotic vitamins. I have used them for about three years now. My sons are rarely sick (knocking on wood here) and if they are, it is short. Also help my day dreamer son to concentrate and relax at school. Finally it helped me with a thyroid issue that I had been going to conventional doctors to for years. I see Lee Rossano at Advanced Nutritional Solutions in Rochester Hills. Google them and you will see what they are all about.

Hi A., It is great that you use whole foods and know that it is important for you to raise your child versus someone else. My family thinks I am the "health nut" too. They can think whatever they want. My kids are healthy, happy and do exceptionally well in school, because of the way we live. We are smart enough to know that what we put into our bodies determines good health and passionate about removing the toxins in our environment and helping the planet too!

Although I have used homeopathics, mainly I use supplements in prevention. If you would like to know more, I welcome you to contact me at ____@____.com or call me at ###-###-####. I would love to connect with you. You sound just like me!

Hi A.,

Dido on the family thing -- it drives me bananas when we all visit and eat a meal together. I feel sometimes like a weirdo -- but then I have to remind myself to look around the room, they are all sick in some way and overweight, etc. In any case, I am glad that you posted and wanted to tell you that a couple of great websites to check out and add to your favorites are: http://abchomeopathy.com/ and http://www.nutrasanus.com/ --- also, we are big into Acidophollis for a healthy gut -- it helps to increase and maintain the healthy flora or bacteria in our bodies so that our health is optimal for fighting off illnesses when they arise.
