Thanks in advance for your response!

So What Happened?

So many wonderful recommendations I couldn't try them all, but will save in my file and try another runny nose day. What did work to ease the sore throat was gargling with warm salt water and drinking herbal teas w/ honey. To clear my nose I loved the NeilMed Kit; it cleared me right up and used it again when needed. Piggy backing all the above w/ Tylenol Severe Cough and Cold made me feel normal again.

Whaen I have a cold I take the Teraflu liquid or the Tylenoyl liquid Coolburst and also do some lemons with cough droups. What I mean I boil some lemons and then put alot of cough drops in it and sip on it while it's hot.I also wrap up in some blankets at the same time and then as I sip on the lemons and cough drops I start to sweat. When I start sweating I know that it's really working for me and within a couple of days I feel a whole lot better.

When I have a cold, I tend to drown myself in herbal teas with honey. I also gargle frequently with warm salt water, and I've started irrigating my sinus passages with a NeillMed Sinus Rinse kit. You can't use the rinse when your passages are completely blocked, but it helps tremendously when your nose is runny and dried out from constantly blowing and rubbing it.

Since I suffer terribly from seasonal allergies and am still BFing, I take the generic form of Claritin (NOT the decongestant variety) on a daily basis as well.

I hope you get some relief soon!

This may sound funny, but it works wonders! Slather your feet with Vicks and put on socks. It will relieve your symptoms quickly!

Hi A.,
Sorry to hear you're sick, seems like mom's always get the worst of it! I also use theraflu, it's like tea and medicine at the same time. But I have to say that what Ashley A mentioned is right on, we have doctors in the family, and the old fashioned way to do it really, is to flush the nasal/sinus passages with warm water and salt. I actually fill up a medium sized bowl and toss in some salt and literally as if I were in the pool and just decided to inhale all the water through my nose....do that and then let it out through your mouth. You can then blow your nose and voila! It works wonders. I had a CT scan done because I was having so much pain in my head from a cold, they put me on 40 pills of antibiotics -and it was the hot water and salt flushing that relieved the symptoms, pain, AND the cold.

Get better soon!

A very very very hot bath and then straight to bed with warm socks and lots of thick blankets. I also drink Mother's milk tea with fenugreek (this lets mucus 'flow') and water.
Hope you feel better soon!

For during the day, I usually rely on Tylenol severe cold & cough. Unlike Dayquil, it has guifenisen so it helps clear up the stuffiness and congestion.

Before bedtime, I'll usually have a large mug of tea (something dark like earl grey or Constant Comments by Bigelow as long as you can handle caffeine before bed) with 2 tsp of honey and a shot of whiskey. The honey soothes your throat, and the whiskey calms your cough and helps you sleep.

Hope you feel better!

Dear A.:
I use Theraflu non-drowsy during the day and the green NyQuil at night (that knocks you out). Alka Seltzer Cold (or Plus) and black tea with honey also help during the day. Furthermore, I have a footbath container that I can fill with hot water and bath salt, which I can use in the evenings to warm up. If you use NyQuil, you may need to wash your bed sheets more often because it may make you sweat at night.

Oh, and air out your house during the day and throw away used tissues quickly, so you don't live in a cloud of germs.

Regards,
W.

A.~~~I have a severe cold right now and I felt like I was dying yesterday. I purchased Theraflu Warming Relief Severe Cold, (one for daytime and one for nighttime). I take the daytime every four hours and take the nighttime right before bed. Today I feel much better like it has kicked most of it out of my system. I hope you get to feeling better.
