What Does Your 2Nd Grade Boy Wear to School?

OK--the weather is transitioning slowly from cold to warm (did I mention slowly?).
What does your boy wear to school?
Lately my son is complaining about jeans...he wants "sweatpants" (which I hate).
He also likes to wear sports jerseys....a LOT.
It's hard enough to find nice boys clothing that doesn't have a bunch of junk all over it. But now--no jeans?
This is kind of a staple isn't it?
He likes khakis, jeans, t-shirts, game jerseys, rugby shirts, long sleeved t's etc. to school.
So....I guess I have a few questions for moms of boys this age 7-8-9...
1. What does your boy typically wear to school?
2. Where do you find NICER sweatpants (wind pants?)? What stores do you like?

What can I do next?

My 7 yr old son won't wear any "stiff" pants or pants with buttons or snaps...only track pants or fleece pants (which only work in the winter). So, sadly he just wears track pants and sweat pants this time or year. I get them at Old Navy or Target or Kohls or Lands End or LL Bean. I just found a pair of nice khaki pants that have a soft waist and no snap. Yes! Pants like this are VERY hard to find! He wears a striped shirt or long sleeve shirt or tshirt under a sweater or fleece or sweatshirt (it's cold in the mornings here). He dresses pretty casual, but I noticed all the boys do here. Maybe it's different where you live.

I understand your dilemma. I have two boys and I end up buying them the same exact clothes because the options are so limited. I have found windbreaker pants, cute sweats and khakis at Old Navy, Target and Gap. Occasionally, I'll find something cute at Children's Place but it's rare. Sometimes Dillard's and Macy's when they have a sale.

my 2nd grader HATES jeans - i think today is the 2nd time this school year he's worn them - it was picture day, so jeans and a polo it was, cuz i'm a mean mommy like that :) he says they are too tight at the crotch. anyhow, he mostly wears nike windpants(i wish he were fatter/shorter, b/c the $7 champion ones at target would fit him then!), they are a good fit for his tall/thin frame. when we have a cooler morning/warm afternoon - he wears a short sleeve t-shirt and a zip up hooded sweatshirt.

my son called the windsuit pants....."slicks". Crazy, hunh?

Anyway, my son hated sweat pants....preferred the slicks. I just bought several pairs & rotated them in/out with khakis. & by the time he hit 4th grade, he refused to wear khakis & was back to jeans!

He's in 8th grade now & exclusively wears jeans. & being 14, he does wear shorts when it's way too freakin' cold out! We have agreed to disagree.....based on the fact that girls wear skirts with bare legs, too.

We call them "swish-swish pants" at our house :) and I have found the best place to but them is Old Navy or JcPenny's.

Luckily, my 7 yr old is still a jeans, t-shirt and a hoodie type of guy...when the weather changes it's all shorts, all the time!

We buy wind pants from children's place when they are on sale for $6. My son (9) wears mostly jeans and right now he layers a short sleeve, long sleeve, and spring jacket because it's cold in the morning but too warm for a winter coat in the afternoon.

My son used to have a problem with jeans because when the weather would warm up he would get too hot at school. However, it had to be a certain temperature for the kids to be allowed to wear shorts, and if they wore them and it wasn't the right temperature they couldn't go out to recess. Our solution was that we bought several pairs of the warm-up pants with the zip off legs (when you unzip the bottom you can pull the lower leg off and have shorts on). He was comfortable, didn't have to miss recess, and he looked really nice in them with either a sports jersey or a nice t-shirt.

My boys hate jeans-they are uncomfortable to them. They only like to wear their 'sporty clothes." I buy them NIKE, Adidas or Under Armour wind pants. because they fit them the best.

My son wears jeans, sporty pants. For shirts it's always a short sleeved shirt with a long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt over it. So if he gets hot he can take off the long sleeved shirt. I won't let him sweatpants to school unless it's cold out. We've had highs in the 50s so no sweatpants. We've gotten our pants at Old Navy, Target, Kohl's. He did wear shorts the other day since it was supposed to be in the 70s, but still wore a long sleeved shirt over the short sleeved. I don't know about your kid but mine is not very neat and not very careful and no matter what I buy it gets stained and jeans get knee rips.
