What Do YOU Want for Mothers Day?

I want a magic wand that really works, not these fake plastic ones.

I really don't want anything other than knowing I am appreciated and for our new puppy to be house trained overnight (wishful thinking with the puppy).

Despite what Dyson has been advertising lately, I DO NOT want a vacuum!

I guess I'd want a vacation. I need a bit of a break with all the craziness of kids and school...and just life.

If money was no issues... I would want my dream house w/ greenhouse sitting on about 50+ acers. But since it is I will be thrilled to get my veggie plants & maybe a few flower plants to add to my gardens. Plus, a larger area tilled to plant a little bigger veggie garden... but I know I am getting the last one, cause hubby already got the OK to barrow the tiller later today :)

Two things leap to mind if I turn of my 'don't be selfish/irresponsible' filter. Black pearl stud earrings and a return vacation to our wedding spot in Hawaii.

Money no object? A full day at the spa...foot scrub, facial, mani, pedi, massage, anything else they can throw in, including wine and luch, maybe at a hotel with satin sheets and a huge sauna shower and giant bath tub, personal pool. I want people pampering me all day.

Well, my perfume is empty and I left the empty bottle on my husband's nightstand. So.....hopefully that, and the fact that I said I was OUT of perfume will allow him to connect the dots.
Normally I would just go get more, but the timing allowed me to throw him a bone this year!
(Really, I'm just hoping we have enough time to complete the Mother's Day Shuffle Schedule again this year.)

I'm getting what I want this year - on Sunday my kids and I will be driving down to OBX for a week at the beach! So while it's not something I can hold on to, it kind of is.

My husband can't come the full week, and may not make it at all...so that's the sae part. But we'll have a blast still!

I just want to sleep in. I just finished Final Exams, and, even though I'm the instructor and not the person who was studying for them, I'm exhausted!

My son has a compulsion about his gifts being used every day (or near enough as to make no nevermind). As an example, he got his best friend an alarm clock for his birthday! It's a totally cook thinkgeek alarm clock, but it's still an alarm clock.

He usually gets me makeup (because I DO wear makeup every day, and kiddo's really precise as to what colors and brands I uses)... this year, though. He's gotten me an old victorian locket. It's because he's now with his dad 2 weeks a month, and he wants me to be able to see him every day, and is worried my phone (which has his pics on it) might run out of batteries or that I'd misplace it, or nuclear halocaust... so he wants me to have a "backup".

LOVE that kid.

It's the perfect gift.

What do I want?

This is really kinda selfish but this would be my day...

I would love to wake up to the kids bringing me my breakfast ( they do this every year) and then opening up their home made gifts. Then spend some time with them all morning.. maybe a picnic out in a field, something simple and laid back but together...

Then the whole afternoon all to myself. Be able to sit in a bubble bath all by myself with no interruptions and able to read my book as long as I want. Then be able to curl up in bed either with my book or watch some sappy movie and be able to see/ hear the whole thing. Then maybe a nice long nap before they come home. Or go fishing.. nothing but me, my pole and worms and my book along the river bank.

Then we can make dinner together and as a family curl up on our bed ( that's the only place all of us fit together) and watch a movie that will include me and my husband taking turns telling the younger ones to quiet down or get up a 100 times for this or that...

It has been a long time since I have had the house all to myself and do something/ anything for just me with no interruptions.

A realistic gift?
If my boyfriend were to help Emmy make something really creative or maybe not so creative that took a few days or time throughout a good period of time. Something they both needed to work on together. I would love that celebrating M. made them bond together with M. not arround=) And I would love to hear the stories and see pictures involving it

not to sound cheese but i want nothing. it's just another day. i get all the hugs and kisses i want and need from my kids daily. i cleaned my house today top to bottom, and my husband usually cooks on weekends so i am good to go (i mean do nothing :)

Diamond earrings. No question.

And as pitiful as this is, in my 30+ years as a mother I've never been given flowers or a corsage to wear to church for Mother's Day. I would still love either of those things.

But I have to add the disclaimer that just being remembered, or having the family together is all I would really want.

Honestly...I would love a new wedding ring...I lost the diamond in my other one. But that is not going to happen, I have settled for a "mom made" silver band. Yes my mom makes jewelry and she kindly made me a band to wear. I love it but I should miss my diamond! Yes i know it's not a "mothers day" gift but you asked what I really wanted and its at the top of my list.

On the other hand I would love a massage, pedi, and hair cut/color.

For all 3 of my kids + hubby to pick me out a bouquet of flowers of their choosing...AND...to get some take-out Thai food to eat in the living room and have a movie night at the house, just the 5 of us!

~Getting a 'Happy Mother's Day' txt or phone call from my 20 & 17 year old stepsons would melt my heart as well....but so far (going on 16 years) it has yet to happen :(

*Money being no object? Have a team of housekeepers come in and UBER clean every inch of my house and garage! Oh, that would be heaven!!

I want a fully equipped potters shed. Kiln, kick wheel, pug mill, glazes, extruder, etc.
But, I would settle for a paid class at the local college. Not, that I need lessons, I just want to have time to myself, doing what makes me happy. (elbow deep in clay!) Oh, and a quality child care so I don't have to worry about what they are into while I am making pots!
That would be excellent.
EDIT: Just thought- to go with my potters shed, I would love about10 acres with a 4/3 house (not fancy, but nice), a barn, fencing, a large veggie garden, nice herb garden, a couple cows, goats, lots of chickens (feather footed please), my kitties with us and someone to hoe that big garden, because that's the part I hate. (love planting, picking)

I am not really wanting a 'gift', per se. Husband brought me a bouquet of flowers last weekend for Mother's Day, before they were picked over at the store. Nice surprise.

I told my husband recently NOT to buy me material items for gifts. We have enough 'stuff' already. But since you asked: a set of really good knives. I like to cook. (Previous Mother's Day presents were an omelet pan and a wok, different years. I like useful stuff.)

To be honest, all I want it’s to somehow feel appreciated!!! Many times I feel that my family (although my kids are young – 7 and 2) I feel they just expect me to do it all because I’m mom.
I guess it doesn’t help that my husband will work again that day for the 4th year in a row, so I feel like once again, I have to organize my own thing based on what the kids like so that I least I don’t have to deal with neighbors playing over or my eldest whining because all his friends are not available and he’s bored.
But back to your question, I guess if you’re talking about an actual present, I would like something like a certificate for a Spa or a gift card to one of my favorite shopping stores (Macy’s, Target, TJ Maxx, Steinmart).

I mentioned it to him but havent seen him digging around the storage closet yet.
I also want my own mom to be happy that I'm taking her to dinner tonight and not expect me to be at her house on Sunday as well.

Same thing I ask for every Mother's Day, birthday and Christmas:

1 - to sleep in past 7 AM
2 - to be able to sit through dinner ONCE without having to get up to clean a spill, refill a drink, wipe a nose, etc.

A detailed car.
Since I practically live on my car, it's the last thing I want to clean. I would LOVE it if I woke up to a cleaned car. I'm talking: dusted, windows cleaned, car seat removed, beheaded goldfish crackers vacuumed up, tires shined, children's stickers removed from armrests, sticky drink slime wiped from cup holders, used Kleenex removed from inside door pockets...etc.
Professionally done or not, that would be a great present.

Reaslistic - Giant GC to the container store or a bunch of the putsy items sitting on my Amazon wish list that I have not wanted to spend money on. A few pairs of pants from Athleta.

I don't really know. We are just going to go for a nice drive to a small town and get lunch and have some nice family time. But for an actual gift... maybe a massage? There isn't anything that I "need" like clothes or anything. I'm getting my hair done tomorrow :) My husband works 60 hours a week so just a nice family day is awesome!

I want a new deck and some outdoor furniture! I also want a bass guitar.

If money were no object, I would love to have a new car. But since thats not going to happen, I am perfectly happy with the edible arrangements and balloon boquet that were delivered to me at work today.

A massage. An hour with someone working the knots out of my back while I listen to whales talking and waves lapping on a shore from the built in speakers of a quiet room that smells of insense and is low lit for my comfort.

I HATE Mothers Day. Every year, it's the same thing. My kids, for some reason, seem to take Mothers Day as a personal challenge to be on their absolute worst behavior. I almost always end up stressed and crying by the end of Mothers Day. So, I guess the thing I'd like most is to not have that happen this year. And, I'd like my sweetie to not have to work. Since he's a hotel restaurant chef, I never get to see him on holidays.

As far as material objects, I'd like new living room furniture since the rental house we're moving to has a living room and a family room.

Not to cook for anyone, preferably the only ones cooking for me is resturants. N o dishes for me to deal with that do, or left for me the next.

Some news pots, a food processor. Um.

Now if money were not an issue I would love a redesign on my kitchen, with a high BTU wok stove top. And all the other gadgets that would turn me into the chef I know I am. Then someone to clean after me.

I'm going to take the bait. Dream Big, they encourage on those lotto commercials. I'll take a park avenue mansion with several working fireplaces, and the staff to keep and maintain it. I'll have a fleet of cars, a butler and valet, a pony in the courtyard for DS. We'll have a helicopter on the east river to ferry us to the airports. A few ski chalets one in the Alps, one in the rockies, one in Chili, in Central Asia, and in Australia/ New Zealand. I'd like to have a traveling chef, a nice old fashioned wood boat (I think they are called Chris Craft). I'd have a 3 day work week and take long walks with the dog in the park, spend the afternoon with DS, and go out on the town in the evenings.

I prefer a spa facial to a massage. But a Spa Day is an awesome gift. I like getting balloons because my children enjoy balloons so much. I refuse to cook and clean on Mothers' Day (if I can help it), so taking the lead on dinner plans would be a plus. I also could use a new watch (in case my husband asked you to ask me.) ;-)

There is nothing I want or need. We do things year round vs focusing on a certain day.

We will go to the country club for brunch as we have done for years because it is the best brunch of the year.

Last year my daughter made a mosiac stone for me which was very nice and thoughtful since a lot of daughter's have nothing to do with their moms at this age. She is now 17.

In June, daughter and I are going to South Beach in Miami to shop, visit the University of Miami, and stay in a super nice hotel and have fun.

My husband gave me my dream car (Mercedes SL 550 convertible) a little over a year ago and I was so surprised! I never expected it.

I am fortunate and I appreciate the material things we have and most especially our family.

I would want a horse/stable.

Well tomorrow, my daughter and I are going for a mani/pedi and shopping. She's 3 so it should be an interesting day. Then on Mother's Day, like always, my husband will bring home IHOP, since going out is crazy. My husband has a lot of homework to do, so I will be going to my Mom's for the day with all my kids. I don't need a tangible item, what I would love is for my husband to wake up at 6 am with the twins and do the dishes. It's sound small, but I would appreciate it more than a gift. I think sometimes people think that an item is better. For me, taking just one thing off my plate right now would be amazing. If money wasn't an issue, I would love tickets to Rangers/Capitals Game 7 in a suite so that the kids can run around, of course, we need to take a train to NY, again so the kids can move around on the train, and a hotel room for Saturday night in NY.

Tickets to the opening of the new Dynamo Stadium!!! 1st game in it is tomorrow. Have you seen it? Its gorgeous!

Realistically, I want a pedicure and a haircut at my salon.

In fantasyland, I would like a vacation- kids/no kids, hubby/no hubby, doesn't make a difference. I would love to go to the beach and relax before my baby is born. Soak up some sun, float in a pool, listen to the waves....THAT would be an awesome present!

I can't quite wrap my brain around whether it's right or wrong to want something that doesn't include being with your family for mother's/father's day, however by pure coincidence a best friend of mine was in Santa Cruz for work this week and invited another girlfriend and I down to stay with her for a night so we could all see each other. The two of us took a day off work and I left my husband on duty and we three ladies talked, ate, laughed, cried and laid by the pool without ANY interruptions and it was the best most relaxing mother's day gift I could imagine.

Not sure what you mean by tangible, but a half day/day of uninterrupted relaxation (however Mom defines it) was, for me, pure bliss. I guess the best gifts can be the ones that give you a break from being a mom/dad.

there are two books I want. one the four love languages and the other is " heaven is here" i read the blog the woman is in. those are the things i want no money being an issue.

Other than the sentimental usuals, I would like a new radio for my kitchen as mine is dying. A nice meal out would also be a treat!

Well, I already know what I am getting, and it is what I wanted. I am probably the "lamest" mom on here in that I don't have my own ipod or iphone, lol. I have no interest in an iphone and its accompanying data charges... but since I started running this past January, I have really started thinking about having some music when I run.

Hubby has one and uses it when he runs (he has been running for YEARS). He got the first ipod in the family for father's day many moons ago, b/c I thought it would be nice on his runs. He had/has no interest in technology so would NEVER have bought it for himself, and he wasn't overjoyed or anything. I just got him a little shuffle, in case he didn't like using it, b/c what HE wanted was a CD player to carry on him! Ugh. He got used to the shuffle very quickly, but never quite got a good handle on how to 'manage' it on the computer--so he hated that part of it. It died. So shortly thereafter, we got him a nano (the big one--older model now, that looks a lot like the "classic"). He takes on EVERY run, and even to work when he has mid-shift, so he can listen to music on his break and muffle other noises.

Our son got a nano (skinny red one) a few years ago for Christmas. Our daughter got a touch for Xmas the next year. Our son got a touch at the end of school last year (he paid half--it was that or a PSP). His nano died shortly thereafter and is currently worthless. So, after 5-6 years of various varieties of ipods in the house, I am still the only one without one.

Hubby's nano still works fabulously, and I have borrowed it a few times in the past couple of weeks to see if I liked it while running. It helped. So that is what hubby decided to get me. (a Touch, not the nano). Although, he really liked my son's nano b/c it could pick up radio, too.

Am I happy about it? Yeah... I would probably never just go buy something that cost that much for myself. And it isn't like we don't have plenty of wires/chargers/headphones and other accessories lying around here... And I don't care for my husband's running playlists, so it'll be nice to have my own device AND be able to let both of us run at the same time. :)

I usually am not a big "gifts" person on mother's day. I am not really looking forward to it this year b/c we are spending it with SIL and MIL. And MIL, while she is honored by my husband the way my husband wants our kids to honor me, did not raise my husband, and has not been the best role model on how to treat people, and he doesn't even call her mom b/c he was raised (adopted) by his grandparents. So it's a weird relationship. And I won't get to be with my own mother (like so many other years) b/c they just live too far away.
So I will suck it up and give all the "happy mother's Day's" out on Sunday, even though it irks me to see her glory in something she didn't really do, if that makes any sense. But, I will do it to honor my husband, b/c in reality, he is honoring me in the future by modeling for our kids. :)

i am really hoping my husband spends NOTHING this year... we are having some landscaping done on the front yard and putting in a large covered patio in the back - i got the diamonds i've been wanting forever last year, so i'm good... if money were absolutely NO object, there's still nothing tangible i want, but a nice vacation BY MYSELF would be awesome :) now, if a WISH could be granted - i'd wish to see my three dogs that passed this year...

I want all our stress to go away! That would be awesome!

Seriously, I want everything. I need new kitchen things, like a microwave, toaster (both on the brink of breaking) and a cheap kitchen mixer so I dont have to mix by hand. Yeah a pain.

I need new clothes, I went through my old stuff and realized that I really do need a few items. So maybe that.

I would love a massage, cause I NEED one, a pedicure would be amazing along with that. I work hard too and have been spring cleaning like crazy around here and think a little pampering would be the best!

I could go on and on! Lol. But that's me. Do I expect those things? No, not now, I know they will come in time :)

For Mother's Day I think I'm getting a pretty good day though considering :) Hubby is taking me out tomorrow for a date, while my awesome sister watches our son. Going to go and get me a few new clothes hoping for some good clearance sales!! Then he is taking me to lunch wherever I want, and then to the arcade to be kids again and play some Skeeball and Air Hockey. Super excited to get out of the house for awhile just the two of us!!

And for actual Mothers Day he is going to make me breakfast and go for a walk around the lake like we do.
