What Do You Think of the New Target

The Target in our area has been annoucing fresh foods coming soon for about 3 months and they slowly been moving things arround. I only been there a few times in the past few months. Well today I had to make an exchange, need a few items and wanted to check out the school supplies. My experience was horrible. It was like shopping at an overpriced discount store.

First it was difficult to even get into the parking lot as there were 3 cars parked in the no parking zone, and another one waiting blocking the cross walk for the enterance and exit. Well waiting in line I saw the manager and asked if he could do anything about it, he said he talked to security and there's nothing they can do except ask them to move, but if they don't want to they can park there. Of course, I couldn't find anything since it's all rearranged, some of the school supplies were at the front of the store and others in the back. Since they had to make room for the new grocery store, everything is bunched together and the isles are too narrow. The clock (item I had to exchange) was in the special college section, but there were college items spread all over. I thought I'd check out the produce, very expensive.

Has anyone else had a better expience?

Guess I am in the minority, love Target. Clean, organized, never long lines,
always have what I went to get. I think a lot depends on the managers
of the stores.

I'm with Patty. Super Target is the only place I go for groceries, cleaning supplies, school supplies, and most of my kids' clothes. It is always incredibly clean, never crowded, and the service is fantastic. I love, love, love Target!

i love target. i do my grocery shopping at walmart. however, i believe looking at the ads, that target has better deals on sales. but target is better, cleaner, and i like the styles better than walmart.

The one near us also added a food section. I like it! The change over was frustrating and initially it was mobbed but now it's great. Size wise it's good, because they used to have check stands at both ends of the store , but eliminated the ones at the mall side to make room for the grocery area. I would suppose that individual managers make the difference.

Yep, I've had a good experience! My Target just got the fresh groceries a few months ago. They did a pretty good job of not tearing the place up while they converted it. Now I love the convenience. I don't do major grocery shopping there, but if I'm there anyway and I happen to need fruit then it's simple! Hope it gets more organized at your Target.

Hmmm, ours hasn't changed and I hope it doesn't... I refuse to go to Walmart, but then again I don't believe in Super-any store. I buy groceries at the grocery store (or the farmer's market or butcher shop), buy clothes at clothing stores, and buy wine at the state store... oh wait, on that one we have no other choice in PA ;)

Ours were bad during the changeover, but once they were done they are pretty nice and clean.

Bananas are more expensive. price is per banana not pound. Otherwise I think the prices here are pretty good and competitive.

I would so rather be at a Targert than a Walmart, but here Walmart is cheaper on basics, like milk and bread. So for big shopping I go to Walmart.
I will do Target for the back to school supplies next weekend, free tax weekend in VA.

I LOVE Target, even when they were making way for the fresh foods it was organized, neat and clean. I've been shopping at this particular store for 20 years and always still like it better than others I've shopped in, I know this one!

I go in at least once or twice a week after checking their Sunday ads, for everything from clothing to toys to household supplies to electronics, etc. I've started buying some food items there regularly since they're cheaper that the regular supermarkets, like cooking oil and Ovaltine (a whopping $2.49 less!), but since their produce is higher than the supermarkets I've only purchased some when I was in a hurry and didn't want to go to another store. Other than that I also buy milk, cereal, frozen foods, cookies and whatever they carry in their brands to save money..

I always check out their $1 section and just found board books and waterproof books for the bath for my toddler and paperback classics for my grandchildren and some little pails marked down to $.25 because it's almost the end of the season. I can always find what we need, unlike at Walmart, and if there's one gift I love it's a Target gift card ; )

I used to love it. My recent experiences mirror yours. I love the super target by my old house (across town...) but the "we have food now" regular Target just seems to not know what it wants to be anymore. great in a pinch, especially since i can walk to it, but I've started driving further for better quality.

I can rarely find anything at Target. I only go there when DVDs I want are on discount or clothes for my daughter are on sale.

It does get better. I remember wandering around really annoyed because I couldn't find what I wanted as they were in the process of moving sections around. Now that it has been completed for a year, I love the grocery section and have accustomed myself to the new arrangement. the one thing I do hate is that the pharmacy section is bunched up and it is difficult to get a cart through there to pick up your prescription.

The Target by me has had a supermarket area since last October, and personally, I don't like it, just because I don't like the fact that I have to put my clothing purchases, etc., on the same checkout area that people may have just put a carton of ice cream, or vegetables or meat on. It's just not sanitary. That happened to me once, and luckily I didn't have much to buy, because I chose to just hold the clothes in my hand and hand it to the clerk rather than putting them down (which would have basically gotten them dirty before I even bought them!).

The change over process was inconvenient but not as much as when they rearranged the local grocery store. Our local Target put in the expanded food section about 6 months ago. I wouldn't do my main grocery shopping there but it is nice to be able to pick up 1 or 2 things that were forgotten at the grocery store. There is a good sale on things like diapers, wipes, packaged foods, etc. The parking lot does get a little crazy on weekends--but that is true of a lot of places like Price Club, the mall, etc. I go on weekdays when I can.

I was in ours yesterday and had no idea why everything was being torn up, so I am glad you posted this. I was annoyed, why change something that is not broken. Hopefully they will be good changes.

I was very underwhelmed. I wasn't expecting it to be as many options as walmart but i was hoping for at least 10 times what they actually had...so that i wouldn't have to go to walmart.

The fresh food selection is over-priced, pretentious and very limited. 1 squash and 1 zucchini is a shrink package for 2.99.....i can get 4 squash and 4 zucchini for less than that most other places.

I love target in every OTHER way....hopefully they will reform this "joke" of a section.

They stores seem to be a bit on the "messy" side when they are changing over to add more things in a smaller space, but having worked retail and done WAY too many resets, I kind of expect this.. However the parking in the no parking zone???? if it was the "fire lane" call the firemarshal!! that is totally NOT allowed here.. I normally do my grocery shopping in the grocery store (except when we go on our yearly camping trip in western pa then its the super de duper walmart cause they have the food, and the other things you forgot at home lol) so I have only "looked" at the food section. But both of ours got better about a month after the change over was done.
