What Do You Think of the Name Silver?

My husband likes the name Silver for a girl. He and I have such opposite tastes in names that finding any we can agree on is very difficult (he actually wants to name the baby Dude if it's a boy and I won't even consider that one!). Silver kind of sounds pretty to me... but is it too out there? I'm not looking for any die hard opinions, just simple yes's, no's, or such will do! Also, if you think of a good middle name suggestion (if you like Silver)that could be helpful.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks everyone- my aunt said similarly "it sounds like a pole dancer in a low rent district". That name is out. Back to the drawing board- and yes he is still vying for Dude if it's a boy. I married a terrific man who has horrible taste in names. Guess no man can be perfect!

It makes me thing... Hi Ho, Silver! Away!!!!

The good thing is, if you had a boy next, or even a twin, you could name him Trigger! :)

I don't love it or hate it...kinda just okay to me. I thought of the new 90210 charachter. But I would suggest using it for a week or 2 to see how you like it. If you feel wird saying it, then move on. If you love saying it, then who cares what other people think? I like how Silver Marie sounds, though.

I may be a little late on this one, but I have an opinion (doesn't everyone? lol), and I felt like sharing it. My daughter has an unusual name. Jewel Liberty. Jewel is a family name, so no one complained about that, but my family is, let's say "terribly conventional," and they argued with us about Liberty. Here's the important thing to remember: if you love it, and you don't think it will cause the child heartache (my husband once had a student named fellatia... ouch), then go with it. You are the folks who will make the most difference in her life. She won't be defined by her name, she will be defined by her character. Who cares if it's the name of a person on a tv show? That is fleeting. Stripper name? Not unless you give her a middle name like Tassles. Do what's in your heart. You'll figure it out.

Wow, that was unusually serious for me. =) Anyway, congrats on the new baby. I'm sure she'll be beautiful no matter what you name her!

I agree with the post that said it sounds like a stripper name. Sorry, but it is a good Texas or cowboy name for a boy.

not digging it here....hard to imagine a 50 year old woman one day with the name Silver :-)

i LOVE it. a few middle names that would go well are: marie, adyson, aaralyn, adalyn

those are a few that come to mind. I just had a baby girl in June so i've had some names stuck in my head. haha

No, many kids with unusual names have a harder time in school.

Hi A.,
The first thing that came to mind was "hi ho Silver" so I would vote no on the name. Silver might be a name used by a hollywood starlet, but I would think seriously about naming my daughter the same name as a famous horse.

Congratulations on your new baby whatever you decide to name her!
