What Do You Think About the MMR Shot

Hi J.. I too was very concerned when it came time for my daughter to receive the MMR. I separated them into three shots, as recommended in a book by Dr. Stephanie Cave called, "What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You About Children's Vaccinations". We did the mumps shot first at 12 months- the measels shot @ 15 months- then rubella we did after she turned three (I waited so long b/c I was pregnant w/ our 2nd). Not all offices have the shots separated so you have to ask. I had to find another doctors office to do it for me and when it is time for shots, I bring my daughter to the "shot doctor" instead of her regular pediatrician. When it comes to shots, you have to do what you are comfortable with and go with your gut. Be informed. I truly found the book by Dr. Cave VERY helpful. Lastly, I hope your girl gets well soon!

i had read and my dr. confirmed that as of jan. 2006 or something like that they are making the shot with no traces of mercury or mercury free. i was terrified as well, however i gave her the shot at 17 mos. and she is fine. you can purchase your own shots from the pharmaceutical company and can give her the three separately and not all on the same day. some people feel it is safer not to give them all together but it is very costly like over $1,000. maybe you can find someone to share the cost as they come with more than just the 3 vials. anyhow, i hope this helps. you can also do a google search and check it out as well. OH YEAH this is a HUGE topic for my household.....I WONT give her the combo shot MMR, I was planning on ordering them seperate from the doctors office most are capable of doing that. But my daughter is 2 also and her pediatrician has understood and is holding off for as long as the state requirment allows I guess, Ive been told I'll start getting bugged about it when she's closer to Pre-K. So for now Im doing more research.
I also know of someone who believes the same thing happen to his son, the case is pending more testing on the boy. I dont know the outcome yet....

You don't have to buy the shots individually yourself. The Dr can order it that way.

i have a family member and a close friend that have children with autism that they swear is from vaccines. my husband and i have don a lot of online research, and are spacing out our son's vaccines and not even giving some. i've heard the MMR shot is one of the worst, so make sure you do lots of research on it before making a decision! good luck!

My son was vaccinated with the MMR at 15 months. My son had a reaction to the vaccine and we spent 10 days with high fever and a rash for 5 of those days. But he came out of it JUST FINE! And now I don't have the worry of those viruses affecting my son. I know they are not life-threatening, but if I can spare him the disconfort of the three (in your case two), then I wanted to spare him. I had read a lot about the effects of the vaccine, and its possible link to Autism. I personally don't agree with the correlation, but that it is my personal opinion. I've also read that Mercury has been removed as a preservative in the vaccines, rendering them safer. Another option is to separate the vaccines. Again, please, no one take offense, this is my personal experience and opinion.
