I used to do the treadmill at home. Child no longer takes naps so I don't do that anymore.
I used to go to the gym when hubby got home 2-3 /week. They got rid of all of my favorite cardio equipment. Ugh.
My baby no longer takes a nap so I don't get much quiet time. Used to go to bed at 9pm so I would take those 2hrs before my bedtime. No longer works that way.
Wakes up anywhere btwn 7-9am. I don't think I can get up any earlier. My day is so long w/2 kids as it is. ha ha.
What do you do for down time during the day? Or more appropriately....how do you make it/steal time for it?

What can I do next?

MLB, I put the little one into the stroller and off we go. We both get the enjoyment out of it and both feel so much better for it.

I had to MAKE time for me. It is so unnatural to me to think about me.
I am one of those who tries to take care of everyone while I am falling apart.
I had a terrible childhood so I could not tell my child I needed her to stay in the other room and play for 30 minutes without feeling guilty. Now, I am so exhausted I HAD to tell her and I am too tired to feel badly. Of course, I did it gently and explained while I am in the bathroom, she must only disturb me if it is an EMERGENCY. My husband is home, sometimes working, but always right here. I also am locking the door to the bathroom now. Seriously, some things I need to do in private. LOL

You already know you've got to make time for yourself so you have the energy to take care of your kids. Is it possible to find a new gym? I teach a Mommy and Me class, and so I can tell you what some of the Moms in my class do to take care of themselves and get some down/exercise time. Can you trade a few hours of childcare with another Mom? Make a deal with your husband to take over a part of the evening routine so you can take a class, or go to the gym? Use a baby jogger or tandem bike with the kids? Take a Mommy and Me yoga class? Put on a yoga or dance dvd and let the kids do their own thing, while you follow along? Also, even if the kids don't nap, you can insist on a quiet time for everyone - the kids can play quietly in their rooms for an hour, and you can take a break too! I hope some of these suggestions work for you! L.

why not do things when your kids are playing? if they're old enough not to need naps any more, they should be able to entertain themselves (and each other) for a while... You might put in a movie and let them watch while you use the treadmill, or try to find a different gym.

You have to sneak up on it and then decide what you want to do? Either turn on a cardio show on tv and do a work out, or lay down on the couch and watch a couple of judge shows and maybe nod off for a bit your self.

Hi Momma-
How old is your baby? Can you do the jogging stroller thing? I know it's not all that exciting, but it does help.
Also, can you sit down with your hubby and make a plan? Let him know that you need your workout, just 1 hour a day or every other day. If it means that he does bedtime say on Mondays and Wednesdays, or breakfast on M,W, F, and you do the rest...well, great. Or if he can take over bath time, etc.
The deal is to make a deal for your workout time, because honestly, it takes time. If your baby is under 2, I think you could get your stroller out and job with it our power walk. Give the baby a snack, a cup of water, and a book or a toy. You can even get them some music if you want and have a little player going with fun songs.
Just ideas that came to mne.
Good luck

My daughter was like this. My comment? find a new gym! We found that one had a child care center my daughter loved.

She is 8 now, and I have found that when she was little the jogging stroller worked well. Then she got too big. Then the bike trailer (burley) off craig's list worked well. Best ever is running the track while she is at swim practice.

She says her knees hurt in the trailer, but she loves riding the Trek tandem trailer that hooks to my seat post. She has gone from adding a lot of weight to I can really feel her pushing the bike (I have to warn her to SLOW DOWN and just coast when we are coming up on stop signs!)
