What Do People Charge for This?

I am a SAHM and was asked to care for three dogs (two small and one large) while my mom's best friend is on an extended vavation. She asked me how much I want to do it... the problem is it is a complicated request and I have no idea what a fair amount would be. I'd be watching the dogs for not quite 3 weeks. She lives on the opposite side of town for me and the oldest dog requires medicine administered in both the morning and the evening so I'd have to drive to her house twice a day every day the entire time. Any suggestions as to what a fair amount for such a service would be?

What can I do next?

I'm a professional pet sitter and I charge $17 for one visit and $24 for two daily visits. I'd reccomend charging about that since it's a little less than the average rate. Good Luck!

I had a pet sitter come take care of my dogs while we were on vacation... she charged $9 per visit... so if she came to my house 2 times a day, $18 per day.

I would check out rates from others who pet sit. Here is a link that you can use to find local pet sitters and either call or look at their websites. We have two cats and when we are gone for a week at a time our sitter charges us $15 a day for one 45 minute visit, but that is for cats, not dogs.

I've seen the other 2 responses, & I believe that would be way underpaid considering the cost of gas today, not to mention your time. I would figure out the cost of gas per round trip, & then figure out what its worth after that. I know I have a dog, & after gas expenses I would think I should pay $20 a visit or if twice a day then a daily total of $30 before gas. You have a 9 month old & your time is valuable. You may end up regretting taking on this responsibility if you do it for less than it's worth.
That's my opinion.

PetSmart hotel is about $25 a day. I would make sure my fees where covered like gas then the time involved and then extra because time is valuable. I also am going to San Antonio this next week and we are taking our little dog. We have never done this before. They charge $10 a night stay. G. W
