I was your age when I had my son. I ate everything I wouldn't get sick from I had morning sickness throughout my whole pregnancy all day everyday untill he was born. It's okay to eat almost everything. Do not eat fresh water fish due to the fact that most of them have I think it's mercury in it. If you have heartburn then don't eat alot of spicey stuff for your own sake. As long as your getting your nutrients from what your eating then your ok to pig out.

Well sweetie--that is the best part about being pregnant--you have an excuse to be fat and eat anything you want..:)(Just Teasing) Please stay away from the hot sauce and junk food.. If it is a sweet tooth you are having, try some fruit cocktail--canned fruit basically.. Make sure you are getting as much iron and calcium as you can.. There is nothing wrong with having junk food just be reasonable.. Each your vegetables as well--keep in mind this is for the baby whether you like it or not.. Your eating is nourshing your child.. Good luck..

The best things not to eat while preggo are nitrates. I am sure your OB will tell you the same thing. Things high in nitrates are: lunch meat, bacon, little smokies, hot dogs, pretty much any processed meat. I would also stear completely clear of ANY fake sweetener - don't drink any diet anything!!! This includes splenda. Don't forget to take your multivitamen with extra follic acid. Good for you and the baby. AND, listen to your body. If you are craving red meat, eat it. I know that a lot of times your body craves what you need. Of course, this doesn't include junk food. ;) Just eat smart. If you have any specific food questions just holler. :) Good luck!!! congrats on the baby and you will make a GREAT mom. Especially since you are starting your caring now. :)

I am so excited for you K.! I gave birth to three beautiful children and believe me, I had a different craving for each one. I love the advice the other moms gave. They are right on, work on getting your veggies and fruits, meats. If you can stay away from all the garbage foods. I find that things in my pantry (flavored crackers, chips, junk) are things I want to stay away from. I'd stick with the foods God made for us such as the meat, especially chicken, and then fruits and veggies, whole grain breads.
Also, on the note of wanting a healthy baby, I want to get you some information about getting your environment healthy. There are many things in one's home that is awful for you and your baby. Here are a few: Clorox, 409, Comet, Crest toothpaste, Johnson's baby shampoo. (I know, that one shocked me too!!!)
Email me and I'll get you some information about this company that sells ONLY products that are good for the environment and our families. There are no harmful chemicals in these household cleaners. Clorox is actually a registered pesticide!! And Johnson's baby shampoo has formaldehyde releasers in it!! Horrible. The only time we should be around formaldehyde is when they're embalming us and putting us 6 feet under!
My personal email is: ____@____.com
Also, my website address in case you want to take a peek at what I do: http://tinamccomb.stayinhomeandlovinit.com
I represent this company that sells these products. I'm so glad I found them. My three kids have been so healthy since I got rid of all the nasty cleaners in my home!!
God bless you and your new baby on the way!

Most of the time your body will steer you in the direction of what you need to eat. If you take your vitamins and eat right you usually wont have "cravings". Just ask your doc what you should eat. Dont make the mistake of eating everything you see. You will regret it when that babys born and you cant get the weight off. With my son, I ate right and waited tables so I got a lot of excersize, I ended up only gaining 9 pounds. He was a 9 pound baby so it all worked out. Now this time I am not waiting tables, I work in an office and am not eating as good as I did before and I have 3 months to go and have already gained 10. Dont stress about it though. This is a wonderful time. Get involved in some parenting and birthing classes with your b/f. Keep keep involved! My hubby was very scared when we had our first and it nearly destroyed our relationship. Good luck hun and enjoy being pregnant!!! I love hot sauce too !

HI! Eating while your pregnant opens all kinds of possibilites!! First of all eating a good balanced diet should be what you want to do for you and baby. But . . .

Sometimes you just gotta have that one thing that you can't get out of your mind!! Like hot dogs for breakfast or food with hot sauce. I had to have both all the time when I was pregnant with my first one. She was born just fine and is now 19 and in college.

I guess visiting with your OB and keeping the junk in moderation would be your best bet. The less weight you gain when your pregnant, the less you have to take off when your not. I should know!! I'm still trying to lose the 60 pounds I gained with the last one, and he's 17!!

Take Care,
M

I think that you should eat whatever you want. They say not to eat tuna and hot dogs but the way i look at it everyone has been eating this stuff for years and im shure that nothing has happened to them so I say eat whatever

Your OB doc should have some sort of guide to help you choose good foods. But when I was pregnant with my son all I wanted was Broccoli and steak, mashed potatoes sometimes.

I don't think you can go wrong with lots of veggies, meats, and a few carbs. Just think back in the old days most families ate what they grew in their garden (stored for winter), meat was what the husbands when and shot, breads were if they grew something like potatoes, bread if they baked it,
Dessert-type things were as prevelant as these days, because sugar & flour were delicacies. So breads were made first. And in the long and short of it, many healthy babes came to be.
