What Color Are My Baby's Eyes?

My eyes are standard brown and my husbands are green with yellow flecks. I like to joke and say he has yellow eyes. Our 8 year old son has brown eyes but we can't figure out what color our 11 month old's eyes are. The doctor said also they may change a bit, this is the permanent color. So, the color changes based on lighting and what she wears. I think its a stony, greyish teal. My husband says they are steely blue. In the light, you can see very light brown, almost almond colored flecks. They are not light colored but are definetely not brown. What color are they??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Why the need to be rude? Thank you for those that offered helpful answers. My confusion was that my understanding of hazel eyes is that sometimes they look brown and sometimes green. There is really no brown in her eyes and they never look brown. If you can't be helpful, why give a snide answer?

Sounds a little like my son's. His were blue from birth (as are mine). My husband, however, has green eyes, with some hazel flecks the older he gets. Daughter's eyes are blue (and were from birth), just like mine. But now that son has grown, his depend on what he is wearing (or maybe his mood?)... they are either blue or green. I seem to recall some debate about his eye color in late elementary/early middle school years. He started saying he thought they were green. But they looked blue to me. As an older teenager, though, it wasn't so cut and dry. When he was getting his driver's license at age 16, neither of us could decide, so we asked the clerk who was doing his paperwork. She couldn't decide, either. Told us just to pick one.

I have never considered him to have hazel eyes. They don't have the gold I have always associated with hazel, nor the light brown/almond flecks. ?

We can't tell and even a picture probably won't help much seeing as different displays/monitors/screens will show slightly different colors.
Take a look at the chart and see what matched your child s eyes:

Hazel. Mine change, too. Sometimes grayish or greenish or blue with kind of gold around the pupil.

They sound hazel. Hazel eyes can sometimes look different colors depending on what the person is wearing, and some even say on what mood the person is in. My eyes where hazel most of my life before they seemed to finally settle on being green in my 30s. My son has grey eyes that sometimes look blue, but never brown.

Sounds beautiful! My daughters eyes first looked grey blue and then changed...they are kind of grey or olive green depending on the light. We officially say her eyes are hazel.

Hazel. The color is hazel. You can have brown/green hazel OR Blue/green hazel, and so on. I have brown/green hazel with the steely blue/grey outer edge. My sister has the color you describe. Blue/grey. Sometimes they are light, sometimes they are dark, sometimes they are very light blue and others just flat grey, etc.

Sounds like she has hazel eyes. They are often flecked and reflect environmental colors or what we wear.

My brother has marine green eyes with flecks so they're hazel too. If they turn yellower then he's running a fever and has an infection somewhere.

Mine are like that. Green/blue/gray with just a slight amount of gold in the center, but not enough to call them hazel. I usually call them green or teal if asked. Yes, they change with lighting and what I wear. They also change with mood. If I'm sad they are much more green. My dad has greenish/hazel eyes and mom has blue.
