What Charity Org Will Pick up Donated Goods from the House?

I'm new to Los Angeles and was wondering if anyone knew of any charity organizations that would come to pick up household goods that we would like to donate. Are there any local organizations like that around here?

Helping Hands for the Blind - they usually call me once a month and ask if I have anything to donate then they tell you what day they are going to be in your neighbourhood and collect your donations. They take just about everything from food, clothing, toys to furniture.

Vietnam Veterans of American. You can schedule a pick up online sometimes as early as the next day.

you can also try freecycle.org. You post specific items for free (in your area with your zip) and individuals respond and pick it up. Its a nationwide yahoo group but you sign up locally. I've met some pretty cool people by giving stuff away.

You might want to check out Goodwill Industries.

You might check with a Guild of the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Or, you can call Vietnam Veterans of America and they will pick up at your door almost any time. You can schedule it on line at www.PickUpPlease.com.

we've had great success with Helping Hands for the Blind as well as Union Rescue Mission. Both will pick up from your house and leave a receipt for the donation.

Vietnam vets of America are picking up donations next friday, sept 11 in the valley. They also pick up by appt if you call. They are listed and on the web. They are a great organization and take almost anything.
