What Can I Use to Remove Cat Urine Smell?

I just noticed that my cat urinated on something that was on my couch and because my couch is microfiber, it rolled right off the cushion and landed on the base of the couch. I can wash my cushion covers, but what can I use to removed the smell from the base fabric? I have tried a pet stain/odor cleaner made for carpet and furniture, but it has just added a chemical smell along with the urine smell. The stain is not fresh, as it was dry when I found it (probably a day or two old). I do have a little steamer that I use to clean the bathroom, but I am not sure if it will remove the smell or make it more noticeable. Any advice would be nice. I am not worried about ruining the color of the base fabric, as it is gray and never seen.

Thank you in advance.

I don't even mix the vinegar with water. When my cats were having behavioral issues and peeing everywhere, I just sprayed the spots with straight vinegar. It stunk the house up like vinegar for a day or so, but afterwards, you couldn't tell the cats had ever peed!

The best thing for pet stains/odor I have found is something called Capture. It is for rugs/carpet, but I bet it would work. I can't smell a trace of the odor once it's been cleaned up(my dog had an accident on my wool rug). I told my friend about it who has cats and she said it worked great on their carpet. You can get it at Sears where they have the carpet cleaners to rent. The Capture has an enzyme in it which is what gets rid of the smell.

When my twin girls were potty training we had a few accidents on the carpet. I used a product sold at PetSmart; called Nature's Wonder or Nature's Miracle; something like that. It was unbelievably good.

Dear M.:
They have specific products for that at any pet store and even at grocery stores like Krogers. Not sure how well they work. You can also try Febreze after the cleanup.
