I had a baby 8 year ago & was allowed to take Tylenol, Sudafed & Tums-that about covered the list of allowed drugs. I had a baby 5 years ago & there was a whole pile of meds that were added to the safe list. Unless you can find a pregnant friend who will ask her doc for you, don't take any OTC stuff-salt water or listerine/peroxide mix for the sore throat, TONS of water, hot tea w/lemon & honey, as much outside air as you can stand to help flush the crud out.

Do you have any idea what it is caused from? I don't want to worry you but my daughter just got over the flu and it started with a sore throat. If you start getting body aches I would go and see the doctor. It would usually be something that you could deal with by yourself but since you are pregnant it turns into a whole different story. Congratulations on your little one. I was told by my doctor to take Claritin for allergies when I was pregnant.

If its do to a cold, you can take Robatussin. It's 100% safe during pregnancy. I had three different doctors, one for each pregnancy, and they all told me robatussin. Congrats on the new baby.

You've been given lots of great ideas of what to do, but I just want to put in another plug to get checked out and make sure it isn't something more serious than it seems. If it ends up being strep it could have some serious consequences for you and/or baby. It's worth checking out!

If it is just a sore throat and not the flu or something, squeeze the juice of half a lemon in a mug and add a couple of tablespoons of honey to taste (it is completely safe to have honey when you are pregnant)and then fill the rest of the mug with hot water. This always soothes my throat when it is sore from everything from nasal drainage due to colds or allergies or even just dry weather. Its natural, cheap, and you can have as much as you want :)

Here is a bunch of information:

If you do take herbs you will want to check them out online first to see if they are safe while pregnant, but I think cayenne and ginger you should not have a problem with. They are fairly common.
Definitely don't take ear & nerve. It will send you into labor.
Best of luck!

Honey is completely safe and will soothe your sore throat. Warm tea too- I'd probably stick to peppermint or chamomile- they are safe while pregnant. Congrats!
