What Are Good Parks/places for Walking?
Now that my son is almost two months I'm anxious to get back into shape. My husband and I moved to North Miami Beach from SC and are having a hard time finding places for me to walk where I feel safe enough to go alone. I've never heard of paying to go to a park, but I guess that's the norm here so if you know of any free good parks that would be even better. I've thought about joining a gym, but I really just prefer to be out in the nature and plus then the little one can enjoy it too.
Also, if anyone out there might be looking to go walking/jogging with our babies a couple times a week let me know. I like T.Y. Park, but am nervous to go alone. I'm starting a Yahoo Group under the name of youngmomsofsf for anyone that wants to join up and set up regular dates to go walking.
So What Happened?™
Thanks for all your feedback. We've started walking around the loop behind the Aventura Mall. It really is perfect and forces me to go the distance...The only way to get back to the car is to finish the 3 miles, LOL. There are a lot of people there and I totally feel safe. Thanks for all your suggestions! I plan on slowing checking out all the different places you recommended.

I don't think you have to worry about TY Park too much. I've lived in South Florida for 20 yrs and I have never heard of any problems at TY Park. Another good place to walk is around Inverrary behind Adventura Mall. It is about 2 1/2 miles around the whole walking path and is used by many joggers, walkers, bikers, and roller bladers.

Hi Lexi,
How about CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines on Flamingo and Pines Blvd. It is a very nice park and I have been there alone alot and I usually don't like to be alone either and I never felt bad being there by myself.
Hope this helps.

I live in South Beach and don't really know if any up there or around here. But that does not mean there are not any. We LOVE to go to Coral Reef Par. It is awesome. Lots of trees a lake, long paved trail around to walk or run. There is a playground and lots of ducks you can feed. Our kids love it (2.5 yrs and 6 months). Here's a link: http://www.palmettobay-fl.gov/parks-coral.htm
It is a bit of a drive, but safe to walk around. At least I feel safe.
Good luck.
