Weird Bumps

My 13 month old daughter has red bumps on one of her legs. They look like little pimples, they're just little red bumps. There are about 20 or so on her right leg and about 4 on her right shoulder but that's it. Anyone have any idea what this could be? They don't bother her at all. I haven't introduced any new foods into her diet recently, no new sheets or lotions or anything. Any thoughts? Thanks!

possibly keratosis pilaris - are they on shoulders or more upper arms? The arms are a more common area for this...

Sound like it might be eczema. Take her to the ped or dermatolagist.

I agree with the other poster - it sounds like Molluscum Contagiosum. They can treat it - weirdly enough - with "beetle juice" that causes an irritation that sends in the right cells to fight it. Did this for two of my kids and it worked well. Just be sure to rinse it off at the appropriate time. Here's more info and some pictures: https://www.google.com/health/ref/Molluscum+contagiosum

I'd definitely bring your daughter in to see her ped. As you can see, we mama's like to self-diagnose, and rarely agree with what it is. I was going to say "contact dermatitis" .... your doc should be able to solve the mystery.

If this is anything like my daughters...who also has KP...it is different. But hers starts in her arm pit and works it way down her rib cage. 3 Dr. have looked at it and no one knows what or why she has it. We are now going to see a dermatologist. The other 4 family members do not have it so i think it is a reaction to something, just do not know what. We too have not changed anything. I thought it was from new clothes not being washed, but i have washed everything and she just got it again, b/c it comes and goes. ?????
Hopefully we will all get an answer. my advice is to take pictures b/c ours comes and goes I have something to show the Dr.

Hi L. Take your daughter in to see her peditrican so he/she can tell you what does bumps are!!! Knowone on line can really tell you what it is unless they're a doctor and even if they were a doctor they would need to see her. Just because someone elses child may of had this doesn't means it the same thing your daughter has. So to be on the safe side take her to a doctor.

My son got that last summer, it's called mollucsum contagiousum, sorry for the spelling, it's probably wrong!. It's just a virus that passes like chicken pox, it stays in the system but is harmless. You probably will want to check for sure with your doc, but if that's what it is, it's no big deal, according to my son's doc.

Good luck.

What you're describing sounds like keratosis pilaris...my son has it. It's completely benign and nothing to worry about it. Ask your pediatrician if this is what your child has. Hope this helps.

Is she allergic to metal?
Check those onsies and snap pants. Are the snaps on the right side?
If so, bingo! You've got a winner!

I hate to offer this as an option, but are they in straight lines or clustered together? Ever considered bed bugs? Have you traveled recently? Does anyone else in your family have then?

My son used to get this when he was about that age--he's 5 now. They never seemed to itch or bother him in any way, but it was something I would notice-sort of like a rash of itty bitty raised bumps up and down his leg and sometimes on his tummy. The doctor told me that it was probably just something viral but nothing at all to worry about. It would go away on its own and sometimes come back, but it was never bothersome to him. If it's not bothering her and not spreading too much more, it's probably nothing to worry about.

Sounds like keratisis pilaris. Both my daughter and i have this. It is also known as chicken skin. Nothing you can really do about it, except trying different lotions to keep the area moisturized. The winter tends to make it more itchy for my daughter. She has it on her upper arms and calves of both legs.
