Hello!
I am thinking of joining the weight watchers online program and was wondering if anyone else is on the same program. I want to join the online program because I don't have time to commit myself to going to meetings. If anyone was successful on the online program I would love to hear there story.

What can I do next?

HI Kelly,

I didn't care for weight watchers online. I had problems with their online tools not working properly. The food log wouldn't save my inputs properly and ended up have to redo it over and over. And its confusing. I didn't have the patients to use it and canceled immediately with a partial refund. However, they did educate me on good foods and bad foods. I used that knowledge to keep up my diet without weight watchers help. So far (2 months) I have lost 13 lbs. Water water water...fiber fiber fiber and exercise is the key.
You are better off using a FREE online diet program to help keep you on track.

We have quite a few Mamas on WW at Lighten Up Columbus: http://weightloss.meetup.com/679/about/

They have lost quite a bit in a relatively short period of time.

I believe some are online only and some actually attend meetings.

My co workers signed up and really liked it (but I already think they are skinny!!). My cousin did the meetings and she has had great success with it. In the last year and a half she has gone from a sz 16 to an 8 and she has kept it off w/o suffering!!

I know of a couple in their 60's who did this. He lost 50 lbs and she lost 75lbs. I think it worked so well for them because they had each other.

Hi...I did weight watchers several months ago and to my suprise, did great. I went on line and found out how many points I could have and then went to Wal-Mart and bought the Smart One's meals. They taste great and I lost 20lbs in just a few months. I did not join and pay fees, I just did it myself.

My husband loves Weight Watchers online. The points are easy for him to calculate even if I serve a weird recipe. I think he keeps track of his physical activity, also. He's been able to lose a few pounds here and there, although nothing incredible. He's been doing it for about a year and still keeps up with it every day. He said going to meetings would make him feel cheesy, so it's a good way for him to be motivated.

I joined Weight Watchers right before I found out I was pregnant - ironic, huh? I loved all the online resources and being able to track everything (food, points, exercise, etc...). I did not attend meetings, but I did find that weighing in weekly was something that motivated me. I was able to go in early on Sat mornings, weigh in and then go home. You may find, however, that due to all the online resources you won't need to weigh in to be motivated. I definitely plan on going back to Weight Watchers after the baby is born! (By the way, I am not the same H. M that responded to this post earlier. :))

I've had great success with the online program but I'll tell you, it was hard at first because I didn't practice my follow through a lot of times.

That means that when I set my goal to eat this/that at certain times or to exercise at certain times, something else always came up and I found myself boinking my forehead a lot!

Now, I keep a strict calendar of my commitments because I found out that keeping your commitments forces everything and everyone around you to walk to the beat of YOUR schedule instead of you sacrificing your commitment to put out fires at home or work. I was always being pulled in different directions so spending time developing good lifestyle habits (I really hate the word "diet") was becoming impossible. I'm getting really good these days saying "no" in a gentle but forceful way :)

The online support is great! You have to be careful of a lot of negative people on the boards but if you review their issues and offer and encouraging word, it gets better for them. Love the recipes! Especially the soups!!!

Hi K., I have been on Weight Watchers since May 2007 and it has really worked for me. WW on-line helps me keep track of my points (meals) and activities. It has great recipes, success stories, and chat rooms where you can talk with others going through what you are going through. I also find that going to the meetings helps me, although it is not necessary, I feel that it hold me accountable for any weight gain. And the 30 minutes spent at the meeting is helpful too. It gets me out of the house, I met new people, and they have all become part my support group. Hearing what helps others and what holds others back has been very helpful.

Good luck.

K.,
After having my son (he is now 5 months old) I was anxious to lose the weight quickly. After 6 weeks I still had 9 lbs to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I chose to do NutriSystem because I heard the food was good and I knew some people who loved the program. In addition, I wanted a structed and very EASY program. You just order it on line and it shows up at your door within a week. All meals and some snacks/desserts are covered, you just have to buy a few fresh vegtables and fruit. I really liked the food and the weight came off pretty easily. Within a month, I had lost the weight. The program was so easy, I lost another 6 lbs that I had wanted to lose before I got pregnant.
Hope this helps.

I like the on-line program... I did not have success until I attended meetings. To start off and truely commit I would suggest paying for a month and jump starting your new attitude about eating. This way you are held accountable at the weigh-ins and once you get into a pattern you'll find it's esy and you'll only need the on-line program.
Also, some locations have a mommy and me class once a week.
Best of luck ... it's a great program!

I have not tried Weight Watchers online, however, my friend is using the following link: www.thedailyplate.com
You sign up, measure, weight in and keep track of your food intake (they even have calorie counts for most all restuarants). She has lost 20 pounds and is still going strong. Tracking her weight, measurements, exercise and food intake has really paid off for her. Good luck with whatever program you choose to go for. Happy weight loss. I did the old fashion way. It has taken me six years with exercise and healthy eating to loose 60 pounds!!!

Take Care,

Actually, I liked it online better than the meetings but the meetings helped.

The better meetings are the ones that make going to them fun instead of just a lot of testimonials. I can read those for myself online. What I was looking for in the meetings was TONS of motivational tips and tricks and things that kept me interested in actually working the program. My meetings weren't like that so I stopped going.

I just joined on Monday and I am enjoying it. I had lost about 10 pounds on my own by cutting back on portions, substituting ingredients in recipes I usually cook, exercising, etc. but I needed some "structure" to know what/how much to eat.

Let me know if you join! I have at least 20 pounds to lose, so I will be working on it for a while!

Try www.sparkpeople.com. Its every bit as good as weight watchers, helping with meals and exercises. It even prints out a grocery list. And the best thing about it....ITS FREE, completely and totally free. I have lost 30+ lbs in six months. My mom uses it too and she has lost 10 in 2 months. They encourage low cal and low fat meals with the emphasis on portion control. You lose weight slowly and have a much better change of keeping it off. You learn a whole new way to eat, not dieting at all. I never went hungry and I survived the holiday season without gaining a pound. The is a support forum too. I strongly recommend this sight. Let me now what you think.

Hi K.,

Are you set on Weight Watchers? I ask because I carry a weight loss line that has been hugely successful for my clients. I have a new energy drink that burns fat, increases metabolism, curves appetite and gives you a ton of energy. It has panax ginseng, green tea extract, rhodiola, and guarana in it. Let me know if you want more information and I would love to help. My mom did weight watchers but is using my line now instead.

HI K.,

I have been on Weight Watchers for a year and a half and have done both the meetings and the online program. I have a monthly pass which gives me access to all the online stuff as well as meeting privileges. I have lost over 50 pounds to date on the program and have about 10 more to go to reach my ultimate goal. The program works if you follow it, whether you go to meetings or not. Make sure to write EVERYTHING down and drink LOTS of water. If you do those two things and begin to incorporate a little exercise as you go, you will be successful too. Good luck!
