Weight Watchers for Those with Bodies That Resist Weight Loss....

I've been on South beach diet and lost about 25 lbs. Last few months I stopped following the diet, gained about 10 lbs back.
SBD works, if you stick to it, but it seems that you do gain it back if you stop the diet. I'm looking into Weight Watchers now, it seems a little easier to follow since you can eat everything as long as you stay within your points.
I'm one of those people that do not loose weight very easy. I've tried a lot of stuff and the weight just doesn't want to come off.
Last spring, I tried counting calories and eating only what's allowed for my body/weight, worked out 5 days a week for 12 weeks straight and did not loose a pound. I have heard that a lot of people have been successful with Weight Watchers and was wondering if it worked for some of you..

What can I do next?

It totally works. I lost 83 lbs. before I got pregnant with my daughter, had her lost the baby weight and was able to maintain for over a year. The fact that I was able to maintain without gaining is a miracle for me. I too have trouble loosing, but I found for me I have my own pattern and not to get discouraged. Now I still have about 40 or 50 more to go (whatever gets me to a size 12 first), but I also did not try to loose the past year until recently, which I lost 8 pounds this month. South Beach actually made me gain weight, go figure, that was my motivator to get back to weight watchers. I also find it more easy on the grocery budget as well. Good luck.

I have done WW twice. Once 11 years ago and lost 17lbs and successfully kept it off. And just a few months back and lost 30lbs. I FIRMLY and whole-heartedly belive that WW has one if not the best program out there. It teaches you portion control, you can adapt it easily with your family, it's easy to follow, encourages exercise and most importantly helps you change your habits. I have been off of it for about 2 months now and have stayed within my weight or at most gained 1lb or even lost 1lb. A friend of mine tried sparkspeople and then switched to WW - she felt points were easier. Good luck! And p.s. - I have a hard time losing weight typically.

Before you spend money on WW, check out sparkpeople.com. You track food just like WW but it's free and it goes by calories and such. ASame idea as WW. It's free and helped me loose 15 pounds in the first month just be being conciese about what I put into my body.

Like you, I had a very difficult time loosing weight. After my 4 year old son told me I was fat, I decided to do something about it. I joined WW in April 2006 and by January 2007 had lost 50 pounds and reached my goal weight.

I feel great and I never feel deprived. I don't think of it as a diet and I don't ever say "I can't eat that" because that just makes me want things more. I eat everything I want, but in moderation. I stick to the plan the majority of time and all meals I cook are ww friendly, but you wouldn't be able to tell. I rarely buy any ww products when doing shopping as they are far too expensive.

It helps too if you have a good support system. I made some good friends at the meetings and it's nice to be able to share ideas.

Good luck!

Weight Watchers is definitely the way to go, even if it is just to start you on a healthier way of eating. I did the diet a few years ago and lost 20 lbs. Then I just kept eating healthily, lots of vegetables and salads, lean meats, very little desserts (I've almost given up ice cream except for very occasionally), and very little potatoes, rice or bread. You don't have to give up anything at all if you don't want to, as long as you don't binge on anything in particular. I still eat chocolate pretty regularly.

I've tried other diets, and like your experience with SBD, the moment you stop the diet, you start gaining weight again. This is because we fall back to bad habits. The advantage of WW is that they teach you how to eat well and it sticks with you.

If you don't want to attend meetings and such, you can sign up for the diet via e-mail. OH! And they do have some pretty tasty snacks.

Good luck!
