Hello, I was wondering has anyone lost weight with weight watchers with tracking points only, with no exercise. I have a 4yr old and 7 month old twins, so it's a little hard for me to find time to workout

What can I do next?

I've been on Weight Watchers' online only program since May and love it! It really teaches you great strategies and I even lost two pounds while on a cruise. I do exercise regularly but what's nice about WW is that they give you activity points for everyday activities, too. For instance, if you're vacuuming the house for 1/2 hour, that is considered activity and you earn activity points. Sweeping the back porch, points. Taking the kids for a walk around the neighborhood or local mall, more points. They just want you moving in some way. You can do WW without exercise, but I've found exercise helps me feel less hungry and stay positive. You might consider some of the quick workout DVDs you can use at night or in the mornings while the kids are still asleep. A lot have workouts for just 30 minutes and WW gives a lot of points for those.

Hi C.,

Weight loss is all about the body being in the right condition and healthy. A healthy body WILL NOT hold weight. My husband lost 110 pounds by taking an absorbable multivitamin/mineral complex. He is not a couch potato and he doesn't really have bad eating habits, but he was never able to get the weight off. With no diet change or activity change he dropped 60 pounds. At that point he felt so good, he decided to speed it up and started running again. He dropped the next 50 pounds a little quicker. He has kept it off for almost five years now.

Nutrition is sooo important. We dodge all things processed. The chemicals from the pesticides and preservatives make your body hold weight. Diet drinks cause weight gain. The fresher, more natural the food is, the better. Counting calories is not going to help unless you overeat a lot. I'm betting you don't!

God bless! Let me know if I can help.

M.

My sister tried tracking just points and had a little success. But once she added working out to her plan, the weight just melted off of her. She didn't actually join ww, because it's out of her limited budget, she just researched online and borrowed info from some friends.

Yes, it works! I swear by Weight Watchers... I have successfully lost weight on it in the past... and conicidentally wind up preggers after I get it off... ha ha (has happened with my last 2 pregnancies)! I personally love the program and look forward to starting it again after baby #3 is born. I also have little time to work out, all I ever did was walk in the evenings when time permitted. It does take a little longer without exercise but it still works. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I lost 60 pounds in 9 months on WW without any exercising. The great thing about WW versus other diet plans is that it is a lifestyle change. Even after you discontinue tracking your points, you will have learned the tools to continue to eat better. I highly recommend it. Good luck to you!!!

I had been doing the P90X and saw great improvement in muscle tone, but lost no weight. With 2 kids, ( 3 and almost 1) the timing was just way too hard and I stopped. I was just wanting to lose about 10-15 total lbs, so my BFF and I did weight watchers, and I stopped doing the P90X. Now I am sure I lost a little muscle tone, which accounts for weight, but in 4 weeks, I lost all the weight I was looking to loose, without any additional exercise. Running around after the kids was all I needed. The best part is I have kept it off! I just did the online version. Good luck!

I did lose weight with WW, while I did not follow an exercise program I did walk for 30 minutes a day. be creative, put the twins down for a nap, let the 4 year old play in the yard and walk up and down your drive way for 30 minutes. Take your baby monitor with you in case the twins wake up. Let the twins play on the floor, crank up the music and dance with your 4 year old for thirty minutes. When your husband is home he can play with all three children or just the 4 year old and you can put the twins in a stroller and walk. It is not easy to get a work out in but it can be done and you do not have to do the same thing everyday just get moving. Good luck, with the temps we are expecting indoor exercise would probably be better right now.

I started WW 2-1-10 (on my own, just tracking points), and I have lost about 40 pounds. I work full-time and have 2 small children, so I haven't been exercising at all other than regular housework (mainly on the weekends) and playing with the kids. I'm sure I've lost muscle, but I look and feel SO much better. I still would like to lose another 40, and since I'm not having any more babies, I don't see why that can't happen over the next year. I do have a friend who is in her 50's and she's lost about 40 pounds on it in the last year, but she's been working out a lot and building muscle (so it seems like it's taking her a lot longer to lose weight). Good luck to you!

yup totally did. After i had my first I could not lose the last 6 pounds so I did WW and lost it in a month and didn't do any kind of exercise besides taking my baby on a walk from time to time. The great thing about WW is that you learn what to eat and to not eat too much of anything. After I lost the 6 pounds I stopped tracking my points but because I had learned to eat better I lost another 3 pounds! And kept it all off until I got pregnant again! So yes it really works Good Luck!

I have not myself tried weight watchers but have known many people who swear by it. On the exercise part, it maybe worth it to invest in a double jogging stroller. I have 4 kids under age six and 3-4 times a week I put the two smallest in the stroller and the 4 year old and six year old ride their bikes. We go about a mile and a half each way to the park where we have a picnic snack and play. They absolutely love it and not only do I get to be able to slip in some exercise, but I am also teaching them healthy habits. The babies even stay happy watching all the other kids run around and play. Luckily, the park by our house is very shaded. Good Luck on reaching your weight loss goals!

Went from 185 to 135 in about a year and half. It was awesome but my advice is Stick to the plan and don't give up! It will start slowly but then when you do start losing it becomes like an addiction. I started working out and walking once I did start losing because I wanted to lose more and more lol. Once I got down to my ideal weight I got off weight watchers but I still have the mentality in my head and how I eat is about the same. Never change back to your old habits cus that is how you will gain it back. Its been 2 years now and I have gotten back up to 145 but that is where I am staying! Good luck I used the flext plan and just changed my shopping habits and stayed away from fatty foods.

I think it depends on how much weight you want to lose. I lost 65 lbs on WW last year with tracking the points. I did try to go for a short walk with my 2 year old every morning. If you have a significant amount to lose then just changing your eating will help at least in the beginning. You will most likely reach a point where you have to increase your activity to continue to see the weight loss though. I jus tried to keep myself more active in the house then usual. No sitting in front of the TV or if I was watching TV I was doing leg lifts or push ups or something. I kept myself (and my kids) more physically active by running around outside with them.

By the way, if you aren't planning to attend the meetings and just want to track points online check out sparkpeople.com first. It's free and you track the food you eat almost exactly like on the WW site. Like I said, I did WW for a year and it does work, but once I fell off the wagon and didn't want to pay for it anymore I got started again on sparkpeople and it's working exactly the same way.

Good luck,
K.

I lost 25 pounds pounds on WW counting points in 4 months with a little excercise. You can lose the weight that you want to lose just by counting points, but if you add excercise to the plan, you will lose weight quicker plus the exercise gives you activity points. Those are nice if you go a little over your daily point allotment. I love the WW plan.

I actually do better losing weight on WW when I DON'T exercise heavily. Just walking in the park with a stroller would be more than enough...or get a Leslie Sansone Walk away the Pounds video that you can do at home. Or skip the exercise for now and you will still lose weight on WW. Good luck!

My cousin has lost about 50 lbs on WW, and she cannot exercise due to a heart condition. I would encourage you, however, to try and find some way to move your body. It doesn't have to be strictly scheduled into your day, but it will only get harder to find the time as your kiddos get older. The main purpose behind losing weight is to gain health, and exercise is the best way to keep your body and mind healthy.
